1. Didn't know FDR had it -- that AND polio?
Three of my great aunts/uncles died of it. That must have been horrendous for their parents; they were all just teenagers. Sometimes I wonder about the relatives I might have had if they'd lived.

2. My aunt had diptheria, undulent fever and scarlet fever
all things we never heard of anymore.. you had to be tough to survive back then:)

3. Heck, *I* had scarlet fever.
That was some nasty shit -- I was in bed for about ten days, had the worst sore throat ever. The doctor made a house call (they did in those days) and loaded me up with penicillin. But I haven't heard of anybody getting that in years.

4. I had Undulent fever...
from unpasturized cow's milk. We had a dairy farm in Delancy N.Y. when I was little. Guess I was a sick little girl. I recall lots of "mustard plasters, and cod liver oil...come to think of it, castor oil too, and "Uncle Johns Cough syrup" Nastiest tasting stuff in the world!!!
