Some remarkably stupid or some remarkably smart persons can skew the average so that more than half of a population falls above or below average; but the median is right in the middle (numerically speaking) so that a stupid group or a smart group has less impact that way.

I have several members of my family who are far from stupid but will almost literally put their fingers in their ears and start singing if I try to inform them of anything remotely political.

14. I've come to the conclusion that there are a lot of different ways of being smart.. and dumb..

My IQ is high enough that I should be fairly wealthy, instead I'm on food stamps.

Most of my family has a lot more money than me but that and "popular culture" is all they seem to be interested in.

Of course I've about come to realize that being smart is often a positive hindrance in making money, it's too easy to become distracted by intellectually intriguing but unremunerative pursuits.
