Democrats Search for Exit Strategy From Iraq Showdown With Bush
Congressional Democrats, while pushing proposals to get U.S. troops out of Iraq, are also seeking a political exit strategy from their impasse with President George W. Bush that doesn't split the party into two camps.

Some Democrats said they want to avoid a showdown because it could leave them open to accusations that they are endangering the troops by withholding the almost $100 billion in funds that Bush requested for military operations in Iraq and Afghanistan. Many newly elected Democratic lawmakers represent districts Bush carried in his 2004 re-election.

1. The Dems have got to be careful about the 'withdrawal' portion of the 'war funding' bill.........
or the whole thing may backfire on them.

3. The Dems can't hold the line NOW, then backdown after a veto.........
the troop funding will go through, one way or the other. The Dems can't paint themselves into a corner where they end up giving in to bushco.

4. Language will win or lose this thing....
The Democratic bill FUNDS THE TROOPS, NOT THE ESCALATION There's plenty of money to feed them, allow them to protect themselves, and bring them home

If they allow the repugs and the whore media to choose the words, they will take a beating. .

6. They went into this as Bush did in Iraq without a long term plan
or an exit strategy.

They cobbled together a bill with a timetable for withdrawl and bought just enough votes with 20+ billion in pork and didn't ask themselves what do we do after the President vetoes it.

11. Like a Banker Setting Loan Terms
Tell him when he veto's, "you want this money here are the terms". He must be made aware he can have the money whenever he wants but under the terms set.

12. Dems need to quit being so careful and gets balls or get out of the way
sick of the SOS from do-nothing pols. That's why Dean inspired so many. The media destroyed him, but now Dems can take on the media with legislation if the media get out of line.

Revoke the Clinton/Gore Telecommunications Act
Restore the Fairness Doctrine (with huge fines)
Restore funding ind Independence for PBS and NPR

Then we have hope on NAFTA and campaign, election reform
