I completely disagree with several other threads here on DU that want to censor the Virginia Tech shooter's video.

The edited version does give a certain amount of glamor to self-proclaimed admirer of the Columbine shooters. The idiocy of NBC is in how they edited the pics and video.

Unedited, he appears as what he was... raving, confused, and spouting obscenities... the mystique disappears in a cloud of insanity.

Don't air it when kids are awake, but do show it...

I think it'll be on youtube two minutes after it's aired. The kids will see it.

Showing the tape won't add much to our knowledge. The shooter was a sick kid, and the university could do nothing about it. That won't change.

What with the 24/7 news channels shouting from the hilltops that this was the highest toll in terms of dead bodies of any school shooting so far, I feel it's time for a new reality show. Yes sir, lets have contestants vie for seeing who can leave the largest pile of corpses behind. Maybe Ryan Seacrest can insult some of the would-be assassins into even greater massacres.

12. Airing any of this is just begging for a copy cat event!

Do we show an actual murder on TV if it is sent to the station? Do we air any piece of crap just because it comes in. NBC has prostituted itself to infinity this time and we will all suffer for it! The experts have been warning for days that calling this the 'worst' only raises the bar for others. You have to remember that we have had hundreds of thousands of young people play video games created by a government that exists to kill. I fear that we are in for full terror here. WE are fighting ourselves here so we don't have to fight us over there. So sad!
