I watched SiCKO again yesterday
It makes me appreciate what the House did.

It's a process, people. We now FINALLY have some reigns on the evil insurance companies. If this bill is signed, there will be no more SiCKOs.

I wanted Single Payer. But I am happy with what we got. It's called compromise. That's part of the process. Anyone who believed we could revolutionize our screwed up health care system with one piece of legislation isn't thinking clearly.

So today I am happy. Tomorrow I am back to lobbying for Single Payer. We are now closer than we were before this vote.

2. I have also spent a lot of time with teabaggers in the last few months
This is a huge victory for our side. I can't wait to rub it in.

4. Compromise is the name of the game. Too many seem to forget that fact.
There was no way that Single Payer would have passed, given the realities of the political climate. But now we have a bill that moves us a little bit closer, so that the next time it comes up the fight for Single Payer will be a little bit easier. And so on.

We should also recall that the GOP had hoped to crush the bill in an effort to "defeat" Obama.

5. This is a windfall for insurance companies...
I really don't understand how you can call it reform.

If you think it was bad before, just wait.

Pay your insurance premiums, or go to jail. Yeah, that's great reform. :eyes:

6. Interesting that so many here are calling it a windfall for insurance companies
yet I didn't see them celebrating the bill. Last time I checked they were still spending $1.4 million a day to defeat this bill.

11. They were fighting to keep the public "option" unavailable to the entire public.

They were fighting to keep Single Payer out of play (and what a gift they got when Obama called Single Payer "too radical")

They fought to keep their market share and they won. They won big.

You think Teddy would have been happy with this? I think he's spinning in his grave.

13. They were spending that money to shape the bill not defeat it
And shape it they did. You thought they wanted to kill it? Then the show worked on you very well.

10. This wasn't a compromise. It was a near-total collapse.
