I can see being disappointed that in the short term the public option will only cover 2%, but did you guys see "Sicko"? Moore specifically decided to make a movie about PEOPLE WITH INSURANCE and how they get screwed over by the insurance companies through previously existing conditions clauses or by being dropped once they get sick.

Do you think that preventing the abuses documented in Sicko are trivial?

2. not at all. Just know that primarily what we're getting is health INSURANCE reform,
rather than any sort of systemic change in an extremely fragmented, duplicative, expensive, confusing way of providing and getting health CARE.

Please recall the 30% overhead of insurance corporations and the exec compensation packages. This is OUR money enriching them. My belief is that that money would be better spent on providing services in a more effective, less complex way. Pelosi's bill doesn't address cost or issues that we practitioners have to deal with!

Good that lower income folks get some subsidy for coverage. The bill is unaffordable for middle income folks who buy coverage privately. There's no improvement there at all, in fact, perhaps a regression.

4. If you saw "Sicko" then you should know that having "coverage"
does not mean you have access to care. Large out of pocket expenses (which this bill allows) will still keep people from accessing care.

If Congress wanted to protect the insurance companies, the least they could have done for us was follow the system Hawaii has used since the '70s. At least with that, the coverage has to have low copays and dedutibles.

6. And premiums skyrocketing along with ginormous deductibles
Yep, no getting dropped. Just paying more than the monthly mortgage for insurance you can't afford to use.

What could possibly go wrong?

7. Debtor's Prison if you don't pay the Insurance Industry.
And don't think you're going to get FREE health care in prison either...

You'll get a bill for your Insurance Industry coverage in there too!

8. I agree, much as I'd love a better Public Option
or better yet, single payer, the reforms are what Obama promised and are much needed. Even getting a public option at all is quite an achievement and hopefully can be built upon later.

That said, many people will still be left hurting (and dying)so we must not give up the fight.

9. The current "reform" proporsal
is a clusterfuck. I'm seriously hacked off that a sitting Dem Presidnet with majorities in both the House and Senate cannot deliver something significantly better. Tells me that they are lacking in either commitment to meaningful reform or the political skills to make it happen. Fuck 'em. Meaningful healthcare feform is my line in the sand. I'm going to have a terribly dfficult time voting for some of the sorry bastards to retain their elected position.
