jobs for all those teens that do not graduate from highschool

do they exist?

how are these kids living? with parents, relatives?

how much trouble are they getting into just hanging around doing nothing?

the media doesn't seem interested in this.

wonder what cops have to say about it?

are jails and prisons filling up with them.

bet many of the girls/women are pregnant, or with babies and living on govt. money. girls and women can always survive here in america so long as they produce babies.

what say you all?

1. When I dropped out back in 87' it was easy to find work, make $
At the time I was working a 3rd shift mop-job, and went on to play in heavy metal bar bands for several yrs. I did get my GED eventually, and have never once needed it for anything, nor have ever regretted my decision - if anything, I wish I'd have known how easy the GED tests were...I would've taken em in the 9th grade and called it done.

These days...I guess I know of a few drop-outs within extended family, and a few co-workers. They're employed at the same type of dead end McWage Slave gigs that most are.

It would have been nice to be able to avoid the 'prison ground in training' place they call high school. I believe that the option to test out should be available. That way the smart and self disciplined can test out and leave the thugs and idiots to the teachers who can give the bullies more specialized attention. Then I could start college classes earlier or work and enjoy my youth.

Or get certifications. It shows on the resume you know what you are doing, saving time for you and the potential employer.

2. What media? I regularly see stories about 70% unemployment rates..
among teens in some areas.

Even the grads can't get jobs.

(College grads aren't sdoing that well, either)

5. In All Honesty
I think a lot of these grads are either being picky or got a useless degree. It's kind of a common thing that these grads are unwilling to get their paws dirty.

3. We should have a system that shows kids it's worthwhile to stay in school.
I don't know about you, but being told we're all dumb as the main reason for offshoring, yet seeing products and services coming back that clearly weren't made by professionals (never mind 'professionally') and something's rather suspect. Obviously so. They wouldn't offshore the manufacture of a bird cage or bookshelf yet let Americans write up the documentation.

In a society, do good work and you'd be rewarded. Even many socialists say the same, unless they're empty petty cynics, will agree that doing good work should be rewarded. Incentives. Not just pyramid schemes. (just to say the current system is wrong isn't enough: What system do you replace the current one with if the current one doesn't work? If you can't answer it, don't say it. )

With nothing to look forward to, of course kids will lose their way, be thugs, impregnate everybody they want, get locked up, get knocked up, whatever.

Hell, even in one of my courses, two students constantly whisper while the instructor teaches. Given the cost of college education, they should zip it and take the proceedings more seriously. It's damn annoying and outright disrespectful. Never mind the cost aspect...

6. I believe those would have been manufacturing jobs...
And they are very scarce these days.

Now people without diplomas and degrees are by and large punted into the "service" sector, with lower wages and less benefits.
