It seems rather crass to offer free fries as some kind of sop to fallen soldiers at a location widely recognized as being one of the bloodiest and goriest running battles of civil war.

Can you make the price of a soldier cheaper, or his soul more easily forgotten?

On edit: IIRC, they are still finding artifacts and the occasional remains out that way.
