My son spotted something on tv today...while watching the House of Representatives..
There are two huge EMPTY spots on both sides of the speakers plateform...
The two fasces nazi symbols are GONE!!

Wikipedia says : Today, the symbol *Used by Italy and the Nazis) continues to appear on the seal of the United States Senate, the emblem on the back of the Mercury dime in the United States, the coat of arms of France, the wall of the debating chamber of the United States House of Representatives and the coat of arms of the Swiss Canton of St.Gallen.

I think they need an update :P

1. Too bad Mussolini had to disgrace the symbol
which used to be taken as different people or different states uniting for a single, positive purpose. Its use here predates the 1940s by a lot.

2. Originally the sign...
...of the Roman Republic, and so of opposition to monarchy, fasces figured prominently in the iconography of revolutionary France.

Sad to see them go..

3. Yet another symbol co-opted for wretched purposes.

I believe the fasces date back to the Etruscans, if I remember correctly.

on edit: Yep. The fasces do date back to the Etruscans.

5. "continues to appear... on the Mercury dime..."
Considering that the "Mercury" (or officially, "Winged Liberty") dime was discontinued in 1945, I would say that the article does, indeed, need to be updated :P
