I think we should have and Opt-out Option for the PO, and
an opt-in option for those states that want to go with single payer. Could that be a fair compromise between those who are single payer or nothing, and those who just want a public option?

1. "those who are single payer or nothing"
You seem to articulate this position more than anyone else. Who specifically are you referring to?

3. Its probably the same fraction of people who want to have sex with Ron Paul
Irrelevant and not worth using to construct arguments upon.

For the most part, I find people to prefer single payer or nothing OVER mandated & subsidized private insurance. It seems when people call them "single payer or nothing" advocates, they are ignoring precisely what people are objecting to and creating strawman groups.

Just my experience. Carry on.

5. We have Congress speaking for themselves more than constituents, either way. A good public option
that doesn't discriminate, having states try to take it away from the people who want it, and watch the fireworks. Might be the only to get past Nelson-who won't stop a filibuster. If we call it a form of Medicare, try to have them deny it on the Senate floor or in the states.
