Global Warning: a scientific farce?

A few weeks ago a parent at Cub Scouts told me global warming is a farce,
backed by Al Gore and scientists who stand to profit if the world takes
steps to reduce carbon emissions.

Last night I told him I was checking into his claim. And that I was also
checking into the idea that scientists don't own tobacco company stock
and that's why they say smoking leads to cancer, but that they do own stock
in condom companies and that's why they say condoms can prevent pregnancies
and help prevent AIDS.

I don't think he appreciated my sarcasism.

Meanwhile, I'll bet that person doesn't care about people who actually DO make a profit off actual lies, i.e. Cheney, Haliburton, oil companies, insurance companies. etc.

I wonder about this global warming myself. They made a mistake early on calling this global warming, it seems to be colder here the last couple years. This is the second summer in a row we never had one 90 degree day. Climate change yes I can see that our local climate has changed but it sure hasn't become warmer.

Maybe it was just the media, but it has been called Global Warming. I know I heard the term Global Warming used on TV just yesterday several times.
