Poll question: Do you twitter?
I have never been on it and see no point. Nothing against anyone who does, it's just not appealing to me. Wrong generation maybe, I dunno.

Inane poll I know, but I curious since the last week has given us at least 30 "twitter" posts regarding various RW whackjobs.

6. There's another one I don't understand.
The local money guru Clark Howard and various career gurus claim social networking sites are perfect for getting a great job. The only person I know who facebooked lost her job because she was facebooking at work. :)

22. Oh gosh, I wouldn't think it would help anybody get a job!
In fact, I think most people's experience w/FB might be closer to that of the person you describe :) I'm not THAT addicted, but I do find it great to keep in touch with my friends. Many of us are really busy with graduate school and teaching, so we don't run into each other or even talk on the phone as often as we would like. Facebook is a quick and convenient way to communicate and have fun wherever we are and whenever we'd like. It also has a lot of fun and silly apps and ways to post pictures, links, etc., to share with others.

7. It's fun to bash wingnuts on Twitter.
And I like the 140-character challenge, with as few abbreviations as possible. I follow The Nation, Rails-to-Trails, Mark Morford, my local indie paper, etc. And I just applied to a job at a local hospital I found through my newsfeed...we'll see.

13. I go over there and rubberneck sometimes.
My life is not interesting enough to make Twitter-length messages interesting, but when I'm online, I like to view the pages of semi-celebrities who've learned how to work it, like Warren Ellis and James Urbaniak.

As myself...no.

As a pompous, jackass, right wingnut, who has a radio show and also appears on a news network...??
Repubs sure are gullible.

16. No. I had to create an account because I lost a bet, but
as you can see, I have done nothing with it: http://twitter.com/zavul0n .

Still, 20 people follow me even though I have yet to uncork a single tweet since creating this account at least a couple of months ago. I'll never understand Twitter.

I haven't logged in since creating the account and can't even remember the password, so I guess the answer to your question depends on what your definition is: if "to twitter" means "having an account," then yes. If anything more than that at all is required, then no.

Twitter actually had a very fine time of things yesterday when a glut of activity on that site caused #Trafigura and #CarterRuck to become the numbers 1 and 2 trending topics, and caused a gagging order preventing a national newspaper from reporting on parliament to be lifted.

25. Yeah
I've been surprised at how much I enjoy it, as I've found other "social networking" sites (Facebook and company) kind of lame...

Maybe I enjoy twitter 'cause I'm not using it for "networking," but more for following news and political commentary, and keeping up with a few of my friends. It helped that my three best friends and I all got on around the same time, so we always had someone to talk to; I think many sign up and quickly drop off 'cause they feel like they're just kind of sending a bunch text messages to no one (since they know no one else or very few others, and thus their "tweets" go unresponded to) and don't see the point of it.

Oh yeah, I'm @catfiss if anyone wants to follow... I follow a few other DUers on there.
