Its like they CANT WAIT until something like this happens..
the media.. they are like sharks that smell blood...
they cant WAIT until something like this happens..
its like every time they break to "breaking news" a plane has issues with its landing gear.. so we are going to watch it till it lands safely...
now do you really think that they think we care about a plane landing safly?
or deep down they hope it crashes and if it does.. they will have tape of it...
ugh...
these type of things makes my stomach turn :(

1. Don't you just WISH they'd put such passion into the WH coverage?
Our media is a pack of lazy-assed vultures.

2. 'If it bleeds, it leads!'
Yes, it's completely disgusting. These corporate media talking heads all appear on the verge of spooging themselves whenever disaster occurs :grr:

3. Makes one wish we had a different way to get the news
other than this overly paid fame seeking talking head circus we currently use.

4. Yesterday, just after Brian Williams had interviewed
Those two boys who had barricaded themselves in the classroom... while he was throwing it back to the newsroom. . . behind him there was the sight of a batch of these press vultures.. sound booms waving in the wind.. clipboards up. . running, RUNNING after them (or some other hapless eyewitness).

If I saw that crowd coming you bet I would head the other way.

5. 1983 Dirty Laundry
I make my living off the evening news
Just give me something-something I can use
People love it when you lose,
They love dirty laundry

Well, I coulda been an actor, but I wound up here
I just have to look good, I dont have to be clear
Come and whisper in my ear
Give us dirty laundry

We got the bubble-headed-bleach-blonde who
Comes on at five
She can tell you bout the plane crash with a gleam
In her eye
Its interesting when people die-
Give us dirty laundry

Can we film the operation?
Is the head dead yet?
You know, the boys in the newsroom got a
Running bet
Get the widow on the set!
We need dirty laundry

You dont really need to find out whats going on
You dont really want to know just how far its gone
Just leave well enough alone
Eat your dirty laundry

Dirty little secrets
Dirty little lies
We got our dirty little fingers in everybodys pie
We love to cut you down to size
We love dirty laundry

We can do the innuendo
We can dance and sing
When its said and done we havent told you a thing
We all know that crap is king
Give us dirty laundry!

7. As surprising as it may seem, I DO care if a plane lands safely
because I sometimes am a passenger. Sometimes I'm a student, sometimes I drive. So I do care when things go wrong in those venues.

The fact is a plane landing safely is not news, one that does not is.

9. When I read the title of your post I thought you were referring to the Bush Admin.
Both of them seem like they can't wait for something like this. The press for its sensationalism (although they do have a duty to report something of this magnitude), but more so the Bush administration who welcome such a huge distraction (exhibit 1. Alberto Gonzalez)

10. It's the Distraction of the Day!
"Political news is sooooooo boring. And besides only the Washington Insiders, Policy Wonks, and a very small handful of people outside the Beltway are paying any attention, don't ya know?"

The Media Talking Heads keep repeating and repeating that mantra every time someone brings up the fact that this "Bleeds/Leads" mentality they have hides other stories of importance.

Yes, I realize that a tragedy of this magnitude needs coverage, but how about the other tragedies currently being committed by the criminals running this country? Isn't that a slightly more important? Doesn't that effect more people? Should that be the criteria by which stories are covered?

I hate to sound cold about this, but when the History of this period is written (and you know how journalists love to say that they write the first page of it), what happened yesterday will only be a "comma", if I can borrow His Majesty's word.
