The reaction of the GOP to the Olympics announcement is telling

Republicans are downright GLEEFUL that the IOC didn't award the Olympics to the U.S.



Personally, I was indifferent on whether or not Chicago got them. Lots of pro arguments, lots of con. But regardless... the actual downright glee exhibited by the wingnuts over this tells me one thing for certain:


If/when a terrorist attack happens on our soil during Obama's time in office, the teabaggers in this country will be dancing in the streets... just like the Palestinians and other arabs were doing on 9/11/01.


Rooting for Obama's policies to not get implemented is one thing. They have a different world-view and as fucked up as it is, I can at least understand their opposition to policies.

But rooting for the country to fail at something, simply because they perceive it to make Obama look bad tells a far more chilling narrative.


We've often talked over here about how it almost appears that Dick Cheney and other neocons are actively rooting for a terrorist attack on America.

The cretins' reactions to anything negative that happens in this country shows that it isn't just speculation on our part.

They hate America. Mainly, they hate it the way a crazed ex-boyfriend hates his ex-girlfriend. "How dare she date someone else! If I can't have her, I want her to suffer!"

The GOP is America's crazed ex-boyfriend. Obama is the new boyfriend. They hate America for dumping them in favor of the new guy who treats them with respect.


On 9/10/01, most liberals strongly disliked George W. Bush. But on 9/12/01 and the weeks that followed, we were strongly with him - until we saw him operating against our nation's best interests.

If, FSM* forbid, another 9/11 occurs on Obama's watch... they'll be dancing in the streets in all red parts of this country.


They're loathesome cretins. And it becomes more and more obvious every day.

is that this was a completely NON-POLITICAL issue, and one that likely will be long forgotten by the next election cycle.

The fact that the country could not project a united front on even this one small matter just goes to show how petty and mean-spirited the Republican party has become, and that is not something that will go entirely un-noticed by 'swing' voters.

but the reaction of many others is also telling. I've read a lot of quotes like
Axelrod: It's the world's loss

and people posting that "we deserved it", "how could they not pick us", "no way Madrid is better than Chicago". It sounds kind of snobbish to me. Plus I think many of these people complained about Bush trying to assert our superiority, but now expect the IOC to just accept that we are superior.
