University Cracks Down On Dorm Sex

School Policy Says No Activity While Roommates Present

BOSTON -- There is a new crackdown at Tufts University -- of the X-rated variety.

The Medford college's new guest policy, revised from last year, now includes a section that bars students from "engaging in sexual activity while their roommate is present," WCVB-TV in Boston reported.

A Tufts spokeswoman told the Boston Herald that the 8,500-student university has fielded about a dozen complaints from frustrated students who said they've been put in uncomfortable situations when their roommates have entertained guests.

I never had a problem with any roomates but from back and the day and up until now, I've heard of both situations of folks with no tact AND folks who are ultra prudish. What happens when one moves in with the other? Well...sadly not the Odd couple.

23. Actually, I take back what I said about not ever having a problem with a roommate.

I've never had a problem with a roommate regarding sex.

I have the roommate from hell story. He had a milk crate full of porn...and no woman would go near him...and that's not even the problem I had with him...it's a great story. I'll share it with DU sometime.

Consider yourself lucky. Roommates can either be a great friend or the worst nightmare imaginable.

-Watching cartoons (that he already had seen) instead of going to class. this guy was 20 years old.

-Getting mad when I came home from working full-time and going to school full-time and wanted to disturb his cartoon watching (that he had already seen) to watch CNN.

-Drinking my GOOD beer. I get good beer and drink a little not bad beer and drink a lot. Call me crazy but even in college I though binge drinking is gross.

-Inviting people I did not know and that he did not know either into my apartment (this was not a dormroom...he had been kicked out of the dorms...he was the little brother of a friend) to smoke weed (and I have nothing against weed...but I did not know these dudes...and they were not friendly to me.

-Milk crate. Full of porn. I repeat Milk crate. FULL OF PORN. Not a few magazines or a few videos (I'm guilty of that)...but a freaking milk crate stocked to the brim of porn. I know you and I are at odds regarding pornography...but this guy had a freaking milk crate full of porn. It wasn't even the cute vanilla kind or the kind you get at a Quick-E-Mart. It was the "HOLY SHIT YOU CAN SEE HER KIDNEYS" kind that you have to go to an adult store to get.

-Not paying for his half of the cable, groceries, or cleaning. I let him stay on the couch if he would keep the place clean (I paid the rent). He got angry and said I was treating him like a butler.

-Threatening my life. Yes, the fucker threatened my life after I saved him from getting kicked out of the school. He was removed from the dorms because he threatened his previous roommate. He kept a table leg under his bed and under the couch he was sleeping on in my place. That was the last straw.

Some people have issues...I know I have mine...this guy had a freaking subscription. This is no lovable man child. This guy was a selfish little child who shit on people who were helping him.

32. Actually a friend of mine (who was feeling not so scrupulous) and I at a small party

looked him up on a certain legal data base. He was involved in an inside job robery at a video store he worked at about 5-6 years ago. Didn't do any time. Nothing after that.

The family had a serious alchohol problem. Obviously his brother, who was a pretty good friend of mine (or so I thought) never talked to me afterwards. I really don't care. Anyone who shits on an honest helping hand deserves whatever they get.

That was fine, but my sister had to have the bottom bunk because of her severe fear of heights. always a little cough and plug in the noise canceling headphones (if it woke me in the middle of the night that is). I never begrudged my roommate for having his GF over and getting a little nookie. Only time it upset me was when a different roommate locked me out of the room for 12 hours and I had to sleep in the dorm lounge on the most uncomfortable couch ever known to man...and I had an exam the next day on materials locked in my room. That made me mad.

...one time my roommate's girl came down from Upstate New York, and me and my other roommate vacated for the night. I was going to sleep on the floor in someone else's room, but a guy who lived in that room's bed opened up for the night because he was off banging a girl I had a huge crush on.

I'm a geezer. When I was in college, living in the dorm, opposite sexes couldn't get past the lounge in the dorms, much less have sex in a dorm room. In those prehistoric times, we had to have sex in our cars. The dorm rooms would have been tons more comfortable, I think. :bounce:

29. I'm still pissed off at U of Albany. I found out after the fact that my daughter had been sharing

her double for an entire semester with a female room mate and the room mate's male boy friend. She was too shy to make a fuss about it. Setting aside the effect on her grades from never having any privacy, shouldn't there have been a rebate for sharing a triple as opposed to having a double?

We set some roommate boundaries after that where we agreed to not have sex on each other's beds. Really he was the only one agreeing because I was too grossed out by him to even touch his bed. Mine just happened to have the best view of the tv.

When I was in college I had roommates like that. There's nothing quite so irritating as waking up to hear your roommate having sex with someone, most especially while you are trying to get some sleep before an exam.

I also had roommates of the other extreme. I had one who insisted on playing a "Christian Rock" radio station whenever he was around. (This was a few years past the time of "HiFi" and into the time of "stereos" with big speakers.) If I was studying quietly he'd walk in and robotically turn his music on. Even if I was listening to something else, he'd turn the station. If I was listening to music he regarded as evil he'd turn the station with this stricken look like he was being assaulted by demons. It was so bad I still feel like "Christian" rock or pop is some kind of insidious torture. I suppose I can be thankful he wasn't an in-your-face evangelist. He only invited me to his Bible study group once and when I declined he said no more.

human decency. People can wait until they're alone, for God's sake, they're not animals. I had a couple college roomies who seemed to think that our room was their own personal brothel, no matter WHO was present. They didn't seem to care that it was my room, too, and were really selfish about it. Not to mention the fact that I can't imagine having sex while there are others in the room. Maybe it's just me, but that is an intensely private activity, and it's simply common decency and decorum to do it PRIVATELY.
