HC bumper sticker
Edited on Thu Sep-10-09 06:46 PM by 90-percent
I like to dream up bumper stickers to broadcast my POV.

Here's one about HC, which is actually close to how I really feel

I wish I could age ten years in one day
So I could be on Medicare tomorrow

going in to the belly of the beast tmrw at a 10:00 AM teabagger rally at the capitol in Hartford with the following sign:

teabaggers are astroturf puppets of fascist corporations

Second call out - could some experienced DU protest participants please help me?

Carrying that fucking sign around (teabaggers are astroturf puppets of fascist corporations) in a crowd of 3,000 tea partiers was a little challenging, to say the least. Emotionally draining, actually.

It was downright hard. I was the only guy there out of all those people that was on my side.

I did meet some nice people at the end and we exchanged emails. People muttered a lot that I was an ACORN employee and I got the impression these folks are mainly fighting against the projections in their minds. They all didn't know anything about the meaning of astroturf groups.

I did not have the energy to engage most, but the one nice guy at the end was truly friendly and open minded. I enjoyed talking with him. They did cheer Joe Wilson as a hero, which was creepy. Called Obama a liar, also creepy.

The common ground with my buddies at the end was about how hard it is to be informed in America, with all this corporate Pravda washing away any underlying real facts. We all agreed it was a lot easier to know what was going on over 30 years ago.

I think they're concerned with ever bigger and ever more powerful government and ever increasing taxes. We need more voices to persuade that a good public option would help lower health care costs for everybody. I left thinking that they aren't all wrong, and if they could get other news besides Fox, we'd all be the better for it.

4. You have a lot of courage!!!
Some of those people are crazy and I would be too scared to do what you did! I agree that some of the people are just worried about big gov't and high taxes, but it seems that a larger percent literally hate the president based on race.

What I've been doing to all my repub friends & family is telling them that we should get rid of medicare & social security. Why should only the older generation get the health care? They have nothing to say when you use that logic. "Socialism" is good when it benefits them, but not for the rest of us. My dad (big republican) said that he put in to SS so he is entitled. I said - yes, you should get back every dime with interet, but no more. He said that he got back WAY more than that...and then didn't know what to say to me. I also believe that illegals should be covered - why the hell not? Make their employers pay.
