It's like some DUers have developed temporary amnesia about the power of hate radio, and it's affect on political discourse and elections. Imus wasn't as virulently wingnuttish as some of the others, but he'll do as a canary in the coalmine. The jig is up for all of them, at least temporarily, and it's about damn time.

Would anyone here have a problem with Rush losing his sponsors and his show for making a similar comment to Imus' on the radio? Didn't think so.

8. The problem is, OxyRush typically says nasty crap

about mostly politicians, which are usually considered fair game, even if it is rude (and I can be rude about politicians). We need to dig up his comments on nonpoliticians, and I'm sure they are out there, including his nasty remarks about teenage Chelsey Clinton, Katrina victims, etc.

At worst, the I-Mess has opened the door to shining the spotlight on all propagandistic hatemongers who hide behind the skirts of free speech. At best, maybe the Glenn Becks and Shrill O'Reillys will feel chilled enough by the public outrage start policing themselves just a little.

I watched the movie All My Sons within the past two weeks. I think I understand why there's been such blowback--the Rutgers team are all our daughters.
