Grassley: Teddy wouldn't be getting good health care with a public option
Just hear a clip on Randi from Grassley. The tone and the outright lie of his statement are utterly mind-boggling. But he also alluded to Sen. Kennedy's age and how that would work against him with a government health care plan - oh, and you know, he can't contribute much to the economy.

GRASSLEY OWES SEN. KENNEDY A HUGE APOLOGY. Oh yes, and Grassley needs to go. I'm beyond furious.

2. does Grassley know Kennedy HAS a government health plan?
does Grassley know that HE has a government health plan? Either he's stupid, or a lier working for the health insurance companies.

3. But would it be the same government health plan offered as the public option
with all the same benefits?

Is the congressional plan the same government health plan the military uses?

All government health plans I don't believe are the same.

4. I wouldn't be surprised if he had to pay most of the costs
himself. There are lots of reasons the HC Co's deny coverage. Age and longevity is probably one of them. Teddy has enough money that it doesn't matter. The rest of us don't. It's not gov't HC, it's a business decision.

6. gratuitous: Grassley would have to work for a living if not for politics
Somewhere, a ditch remains undug because Charles Grassley was distracted from his role on earth.

And by the way, ultra-millionaires like the Kennedys don't really have to worry overmuch about stuff they can't afford. But the Kennedys have long been more concerned about the lot of people who can't afford the basics of life. Compare and contrast with the concern shown by another famous political family. Let's say, oh, how about the Bushes? And I'm here to argue that that is why the Kennedys have seen two of their family assassinated while the Bushes live to bitter old age.

7. If we don't get health care with a public option, I think all congressmen/senators/ president, etc
should give up there government health care and go out in the public sector and have to buy there own insurance and if someone has high blood pressure (or like McCain had cancer)or pre-existing condition then deny them

8. Grassley, let us be honest: As has been reported on TV shortly
after Senator Kennedy was diagnosed, it was correctly pointed out
that because Ted is who he is, he was given priority at Duke.
His Name, his position and his money gave him an advantage.

Most of us recognize this and accept it and do not harbor resentment.

This is not something to used personally.

9. Understood
but Grassley was asserting that the kind of brain tumor Teddy has wouldn't be treated if he had government health insurance. Which, of course, he has.

17. Kennedy should grab this with both hands and talk about how he'd be doing
with no insurance, private insurance, public option, single payer, etc.

18. If Teddy were black, poor, unemployed, maybe
Teddy could easily write a check for all of his care, if need be. He's the WORST "example" "Dino" Grassley could have used..what a fool

19. I thought all Americans were automatically enrolled in Medicare at 65.
Ted Kennedy is 77. Are members of Congress exempt from being automatically enrolled in Medicare Part A at age 65? Anyone know?

Unless there is an exemption, Ted Kennedy's health care is at least partially being covered by a government health care plan.

24. Lawnmower man needs to be reminded that Congress and the Senate have the only
version of a public option outside of Medicare available to them in their health care plan. Bought and paid for by you and me.
