Glen Greenwald "surprised" by the Olbermann denial
Edited on Mon Aug-03-09 09:07 PM by Becky72
Via Twitter (8-3-09):

"Really surprised by the Olbermann denial - there's lots and lots of evidence that the NYT's description about what GE did is 100% accurate."

1. why didn't you just put this in the thread you already started about this?
you going to do a new thread each time somebody twitters their opinion on this?

?

21. nice, substantive response. did you read the other thread?
this would have fit in quite well with the first one. got a problem with my asking why the seemingly needless new thread, given the flamebaiting nature of the first one, or did you not bother to look at that one?

thanks for answering for 'her,' though

9. It makes him just another blogger, not some oracle of truth
some hang on his every post as if its gospel, but incidents like this serve to remind us that he is just a blogger.

10. (scratching head) isn't the same fundamentally true of Olberman?
I don't really understand the hero worship of him that goes on around here.

15. Fair enough, though I must say I find the latter marginally more convincing
One thing I'm learning from this particular debate is that I'm saving myself a lot of time by not watching tv news...

4. btw, greenwald is usually right on with most of what he says.
dunno what to think about this one, though

it would be fun for KO to have him on the show and let them talk it over

one of his best exchanges with with Frank Gaffney

19. Well, the NYT article names names
Shortly after, Phil Griffin, the MSNBC president, told producers that he wanted the channel’s other programs to follow Mr. Olbermann’s lead and restrain from criticizing Fox directly, according to two employees. At Fox News, some staff members were told to “be fair” to G.E.

Why would Griffin tell others to stop attacking O'reilly too? It's not like the others, too, came to their own conclusions. And why would Griffing ask Fox to "be fair" to GE? Why ask for something in return?

22. this is why the need for this thread is debatable....the other thread on this
subject already covered this in some detail

had this OP been included in the original thread, a lot of repetition/confusion would have been obviated

17. Maybe Glen should have contacted KO before he opined.
Who knows? I'm more surprised that the NYT would publish such a piece based on KO's rather blunt denial. And he decided to make Billo the "worser" person in the world tonight, after a self-imposed decision not to give him anymore airplay.

Some one got duped, bigtime.

23. I thought Olbermann said he was contacted and denied the rumors
About a deal?

His blog at Daily Kos does not mention that and neither does the MSNBC Countdown site. But Olbermann does repeat the denial of a deal at Kos: "But there is no "deal." I would never consent, and, fortunately, MSNBC and NBC News would never ask me to." http://www.dailykos.com/storyonly/2009/8/3/761454/-Special-Comment:-Health-Care-Reform
