Max Baucus -- The Mouse that Roared
Edited on Fri Jul-31-09 11:08 AM by warren pease
According to "The Hill" and reported in truthout.org, The Mighty Max (d-invertebrate) has "no idea" whether or not he'll vote to confirm Supreme Court nominee Sonia Sotomayor next week.

Baucus this summer has infuriated liberals on and off Capitol Hill by working to strike a deal with Republicans on healthcare reform. A "no" vote on Sotomayor would be adding fuel to the left's fire at the Finance Committee chairman.

Baucus on Thursday twice told The Hill he is undecided on next week's floor vote on Sotomayor.

"I have no idea," Baucus said. "I haven't paid any attention and I haven't announced ... I've been so busy with healthcare. It's under consideration. I'll certainly know when I vote, but right now I can't tell you."

Translation: Max hasn't had time to caucus with his corporate employers and would rather cut off an arm than offend all those good, civic-minded members of the corporate bribocracy who tell his third-rate brain how to think and which excuses to use.

Important guy, that Max. Rumor says it's getting tougher to find the proverbial honest politician: one who stays bought. But Max is an old school kind of pol and believes in delivering for his sugar daddies without reservation.

Loyal, true and utterly destructive to the concept of a democratic republic. That's our Max out there fighting the good fight on behalf of those who've already won the match.

1. A Senator From Montana is Determining The Health care Solution?
Excuse me but this corporate shill aka Max Baucus is from Montana. Montana is one of the least populous states in the U.S. and can't really be said to have anything that actually ranks as a city within its borders. And this is the guy that's running the committee that decides what gets to the floor of the Senate on health care?

The Senate is fundamentally broken. In the first place a Senator from such a thinly populated state shouldn't EVER end up the chair of ANY committee. He or she just doesn't represent a sufficient number of citizens of this nation. If they want to move up in the ranks they should have to move to somewhere there are enough people to have real problems.

Secondly, when you can total up the amount of funding that a Senator is getting from specific industries and it adds into the millions and this Senator is clearly fighting for the interests of the those industries rather than the interests of his or her constituents then there is at least circumstantial evidence of outright bribery having taken place. Charges should be presented to a grand jury for consideration.

We need to start charging these corrupt bastards with the crime that everyone knows they are committing. There is such obvious quid pro quo here as to turn the stomach. If I was empaneled on a grand jury looking at John Cornyn's actions I'd vote to indict. I bet the citizens of Montana would indict this corrupt corporate shill.

He's been bribed and he's paying off his paymasters. How much more obvious does it have to get?

But back on the topic. Why are the legislators from the least populous states in the union in control of this process? Montana, Maine, Iowa, North Dakota, New Mexico, Wyoming (see David Sirota's article "Health Care Tyranny"... If you add up the entire populations of all of these states you wouldn't get the population of Manhattan. WTF???? Why do these folks who represent so few get to gum up the works for the other 300,000,000 of us?

What's wrong with this picture?

I've got a suggestion for these august gentlemen and gentlewomen--lead, follow, or get out of the way! The status quo is not okay with us. Delaying by a few months isn't going to make this go away this time. The problem is fifteen years worse and the economy is in the shitter. A lot of us that had health insurance back in '93 don't have it anymore. And some of us that still have it have had to use it and have gotten killed financially.

The system don't work. Don't try to tell us that is does. You're trying to teach a pig to sing. And we all know what that does to the pig.

And, for god's sakes, get these no population Senators out of our way. The Nation has business that has to be accomplished.
