5. Thanks - an idiot@DFA wants to target 3 Senators against healthcare w/ads including Kerry.
Some left activists are willing dupes of the corporate wing of our party. By targeting Kerry FALSELY they divert attention from the real opposition to public option. They did it on Alito filibuster and did it again on campaign money (heyjohn), firing up the left against Kerry knowing the truth will be too far behind to catch up. Sadly, it works too often.

18. If they want to target Kerry, let them do it.

If DFA has money to lose, so be it, and may be it will be a wake-up call for Kerry that he needs to communicate. I see no evidence that the senator you are talking about (and that I do not trust either) is behind that. It could be anybody in the Senate Finance Committee, but if, by now, Kerry cannot make clear what he thinks or not or hire staffers who can do this job, it becomes a lost cause. He is fine for 5 more years anyway.

This said, it would be too bad to see DFA spend money for something useless when so many Dems are needed.

BTW, there are new leaks from the closed door Finance Senate Committe today, just about the same senator. So, it is possible that somebody is after him, but it is his job to make clear to all that these are lies.

(I know you will not see it this way and I would prefer to know what really happened there, but they choose to do these meetings behind closed doors, and nobody objected. So do not be surprised that there are leaks that cannot be verified).

19. Well...it comes down to knowing the players. Grim may as well have an address in
Schumer's office.

9. Bless your heart, sister -
I just wrote to my Senator Warner, reminding him that I did not send money to him so that he could behave like a Republican.

My congressman and Senator Webb are behind the Public Option, which is good.

Warner worries me - he's sucking around with that little prick, Evan Bayh. I don't like that...................

10. Warner needs to stop thinking like a rich guy for a few minutes.
He's wealthy with great health insurance...but he needs to think what things would be like if he was a poor working stiff who had to keep his fingers crossed every day that he wouldn't lose his job and therefore his insurance coverage for himself and his family. I know Warner has a daughter with Type 1 (juvenile) diabetes - as does my daughter. I live in fear because once she's not a full time student anymore...she's not covered on my health insurance. If she can't find a job with health insurance benefits...what happens to her? She needs alot of very expensive supplies and insulin to stay alive!

12. Write to him and tell him what you posted here -
do it!

Make it personal, bring it home to him.

His family lives up the street from us here in Alexandria, and his wife is wonderful, his girls are great, and I have busted ass for him in both his campaigns. They're terrific individuals.

But his cozying up to Evan Bayh, and now his bullshit "on the fence" posture with the Public Option really pisses me off. It's all I can do not to slip a note under his door. I'm restraining myself. I didn't even say that I would never vote for him again if he didn't back Obama on this one.

I wouldn't, though. I'd support any Democrat who opposes him.

But, PLEASE, write to him and tell him what you told me, about your girl.

Do it. Go on.......................

4. Are there *any* Republicans who would support it?
There are currently 14 Dems who won't, so that means we need to pick up at least 4 Republicans to vote for it if none of these change their position.

7. I dunno...the few feeble comments sound more like their hedging their bets at this time.
Snowe, Collins and Grassley, in particular.

6. So, is it a good thing or bad thing that the majority are don't know?
I guess they're waiting to see if the healthcare lobbysists cough up more money or if they realize it's gonna be political suicide not to favor a public option.

16. Inspired me to write my Republican congressman to let him hear our healthcare horror story
and why he should support the public option!

Luckily, we have good insurance, but after going through a 6 week hospital stay for my husband (spinal cord injury) my heart bleeds for those families who must live through the stress w fear of financial ruin as well as healthcare concerns. No one should have to live w those fears!

done!
