Morning Joe is on full-out attack mode on health care reform this morning.
"It's bad for the economy. Maybe we should hold off for a while. We have bigger issues to take care of first. Blah blah blah..."

The insurance industry must be afraid of what may be coming.

3. I know, I tried changing the channel but there's nothing else watchable.
The other news channels are as bad or worse, and most of the interesting entertainment channels are showing infomercials in the morning.

13. I watch ESPN in the morning
I gave up on Mourning Joe after about 3 days. It turns my stomach to watch them pontificate on shit they can't even begin to understand. Quite possibly the most unintelligent cable news show out there aside from Fox.

10. I used to watch Soledad O'Brien on CNN, but she's gone and her replacements are
almost as unwatchable as Scarborough & Co. Poor John Roberts went from being Dan Rather's best sub, to reporting from war zones, to this. What we need is a straight news show, with nobody spouting opinions... :banghead:

30. Maybe you could listen to progressive radio, but I'm not sure what's on there anymore...
I used to listen to Big Ed, Randi and Rachel on Air America, but they've all left AAR. I no longer have access, via satellite radio or computer, so I have no idea what they're airing now. When I get a chance, I generally tune in to MSNBC when David Schuster comes on, later in the day. IMO, the morning programming is not worth watching... :-(

If you look outside, there just may be skywriting... ;) :hi:

22. If you're able, you could try progressive internet radio
I listen to Bill Press from 6-9 a.m. (Eastern) on weekdays on this station:

http://www.880therevolution.com/pages/schedule.html
It works with Internet Explorer and Google Chrome, but for it to work with Mozilla Firefox, you need to have the Internet Explorer add-on in order for the station's media player to work.

Stephanie Miller is on from 9-12
Ed Schultz 12-3
Thom Hartmann 3-6

Two other good stations w/similar format, from:
Portland, OR: http://www.620kpoj.com/pages/program/index.php
San Francisco: http://www.green960.com/pages/lineup.html

And here's a list of other progressive stations:

12. When Scarborough followed Olbermann, he seemed to be learning something.
And when he covered elections with Ron Regan, he became almost human. But with the gang he's got now, who look to him before forming an opinion, the whole mess is too aggravating to stand. Even when he's off, like today, it's as if he's still there... I'd rather watch my local am news guy banter with the weatherman. x(

29. MSNBC continues to disappoint and you're entirely right about the stress level...
I can't deal with anybody on Scarborough, read the actual newspaper instead, these days. :wow:

And MSNBC is also unwatchable on weekends. I turned it on early this afternoon, hoping to get some news, since I didn't have computer access, totally forgetting it was a Saturday. I saw their commercial proclaiming that they are THE place for politics, then they returned to an ancient documentary about serial killers. x(

7. They're actually pushing the idea that maybe we shouldn't be doing anything about health care.

This may actually be a good sign. If they're pushing the idea of doing nothing, that may mean that they've lost at least some of their control of the legislative process.

Remember that this follows all of the talk about ditching bipartisanship. Could things actually be moving in the right direction?

11. Well yeah...
maybe we should just hold off for a while! After all, it's only BEEN 15 years! What's the RUSH?

Don't have health insurance? Can't afford to get sick? Well there is already a solution to this..I think Scrooge said it best...."Die, and decrease the surplus population!"

After all, this is a Christian nation. Our obligation to the less fortunate is to kick them to the curb!

Do I need this? (well, just in case) :sarcasm:

16. But, but...

isn't health care, and it's sky rocketing costs and its sometimes catastrophic effect on the uninsured, and the insured who are unlucky enough to end up with serious medical happenstance that could cause them finacial ruin - isn't a big issue?

17. Bigger issues? What's bigger than the 7% SYPHON of GDP from the middle class to the rich?
Let's do some math...

Vast majority of health care insurance corporations owned by the very, very wealthy. Check.

20% of the GDP constantly flowing through health insurance companies. Got it.
source: http://www.nchc.org/facts/cost.shtml

~30% of that sucked away by administration costs and... PROFITS.

So let's see, 30% of 20%...

So almost 7% of EVERYTHING EVERYONE makes is going directly to the top.

Yeah. That's not important.

(yeah, right ...) if they weren't FORCED to pay health care coverage instead of just the salary/wage ...

and how the health care costs of retirees was bringing down GM ...

23. The stupidest point they make is when they say JOBS should be bigger than
healthcare as an issue as though they do not realize that people without jobs ALSO do not have healthcare! More jobless equals more uninsured, making the healthcare issue that much more important.

28. Joe Biden said different.
Joe Biden: ‘We Have to Go Spend Money to Keep From Going Bankrupt’

(CNSNews.com) – Vice President Joe Biden told people attending an AARP town hall meeting that unless the Democrat-supported health care plan becomes law the nation will go bankrupt and that the only way to avoid that fate is for the government to spend more money.

Thursday, July 16, 2009
By Penny Starr, Senior Staff Writer

“We’re going to go bankrupt as a nation,” Biden said.

“Now, people when I say that look at me and say, ‘What are you talking about, Joe? You’re telling me we have to go spend money to keep from going bankrupt?’” Biden said. “The answer is yes, that's what I’m telling you.”
