Sarah got her whole house for a bribe? Wow.
I may be mistaken but my interpretation is that she "bought" a house w/ a "loan" from someone's trust, gave the deed to the trust, and later the trust deeded it back to her.

Can't cite it -- read it on a link from an earlier thread.

BTW, giving loans (a tax free transaction), then having the lender "forgive" the loan, is one of the preferred modern vehicles for bribery & $ laundering. It's fraud, a tax vuiolation, and more.

She's goin' down!

Incidentally, Chuck Todd is pre-defending her. Creepy. I dislike him intensely.

1. We've heard that the FBI/IRS have been poking around Wasilla.
I see this resignation as a pre-emptive strike so that she doesn't have to make one of those apologizing kind of stepping down speeches after the charges have been announced. She's in some big trouble, I suspect.

2. I read that the company that built the Wasilla Hockey Rink helped to .....
... build her house aka the materials for her house were billed to the city of Wasilla.

8. The part that hit me was when some reporter who looked at the ...
.... bill of lading that showed materials for a log home being in on the list for a metal frame
hockey rink.

11. Not quite - "contractor buddies", per Todd, helped him build the house
If you've seen it, that's a big house! So they paid nothing for labor. Haven't seen any info re: materials. At the time they were building the house, bids were coming in for the hockey rink. So those "buddies" might have been incentivized by the plum hockey rink contracts. More here:

4. I've been thinking that this is it. She had the house built when the Wasilla rink was being built.
Edited on Fri Jul-03-09 05:18 PM by OmmmSweetOmmm
The house was assessed for more than $550,000.

7. Yep, elehhhhna, that one smelled bad from the start.
That the hapless "Tawd" and some of his friends built their house or somesuch nonsense, coincidentally at the same time the Hockey Palace was built didn't quite pass the sniff test. More like a page from Ted Stevens' book.

Did Wasilla contractor pay for Palin home?

Raw Story

The Village Voice’s Wayne Barrett talks about Sarah Palin’s reaction to the findings in the Troopergate investigation as well as whether the Palin family home was paid for by a subcontractor with ties to Wasilla’s sport complex – one of Palin’s major projects during her term as mayor.

Wayne Barrett writes a very interesting article on Sarah Palin in the Village Voice where it becomes abundantly clear how her actions in Alaska while serving in various capacities do not reflect being a ‘maverick’ as much as being totally self-serving, and beneficial to her career ambitions. It is amazing the web of names that cross paths with Senator Ted Stevens and the mess he has found himself in the midst of..

I hope Mr. Barrett continues to ask questions. This article raises a number of them.. This all reeks.

The Book of Sarah (Palin) - Strafing the Palin record by Wayne Barrett
(The part concerning the Palin’s house and the $12.5 million dollar sports complex and hockey rink can be found on the last two pages of this article.)

For more, read this at the Daily Kos: Did Sports Complex Contractors Build Palin’s House for Free?
