Harry The Spineless Wonder no longer has the "we don't have 60 seats" excuse. He needs to shit or get off the pot now.

5. 60 seats doesn't mean there's 60 votes

There's still the blue dogs that have to be taken into consideration.

9. Great to know that we still have our preemptive excuses in tact.
Edited on Tue Jun-30-09 04:38 PM by Dr Fate
Who needs "ways to make things happen" when we can have excuses for why they won't.

12. What do you suggest to "make things happen"?

Things like threatening to withhold campaign funding like the Repugs?

16. Whatever it takes, so long as it is legal. ANYTHING but lame-ass excuses.
Edited on Tue Jun-30-09 04:51 PM by Dr Fate
Hell-why be negative- how about promising them MORE money if they vote with mainstream DEMS? Promise money to help them with counter-ads against the Health-profit industry, etc.

Where there is a will, there is way. I can come up with many ways to fight conservatives as opposed to excuses for not fighting them.

Maybe we dont have "the way" because there is no will?

If "the leadership" can convince congress that spending billions in a god-damned desert is a good way to spend money, then getting them to spend some money for the USA once or twice shouldnt be too hard. Harder than coming up with excuses though, I'll give them that.

18. Promising more money is no different than threatening to withhold money

Any moral person can see that.

19. Could it work? At least it's not another preemptive excuse for failure.
Edited on Tue Jun-30-09 04:56 PM by Dr Fate
I'm told that part of the problem is the ads the Health-profit guys will run against them. Nothing immoral about giving DEMS money to fight those ads.

LOL! We are talking about conservative DEMS who are siding with Bush conservatives, yet the "morals" of those opposed to this are in question? LOL!

If you want to make a money-is-not-moral argument, then target DEMS who take Lobbyist money.

10. The excuses will never change much, that is for sure.
Edited on Tue Jun-30-09 04:43 PM by Dr Fate
What will change is a more and more people will start seeing through the excuses. Seating Franken will not end the excuses, but it will make the excuses more transparent to more people.

More people will be asking: "Well what the HELL are you doing to GET the votes?"

11. It would be like herding cats

And I don't want the Democrats to become like Repugs, using threats of withholding campaign funds and other fascist methods in order to pressure members into toeing the party line.

there are 2 and you can't tell them apart vote wise

I'm happy we have 60 but I still don't see it as a magical number that will solve all of our problems

28. Not if he was able to "get the votes" instead of crying "we dont have the votes" like clockwork.
Edited on Tue Jun-30-09 06:07 PM by Dr Fate
I'm not saying that Feingold is the answer, BTW.

I will say that Harry does seem to be better at covering for dissenting DEMS as opposed to twisting the arms of those DEMS who oppose the mainstream or the right side of an issue.

Maybe the issue is that Reid AGREES with the conservative DEMS-so that is why we dont get any arm twisting. Maybe this is why names like Feingold come up.
