I am no fan of Sarah Palin, but I'm standing up for her on this one
Shame on Mccain and his "staffers". Apparently now, they are telling tales about how difficult Sarah was, and how un-ready she was for "prime time"..

DUH!!

McCain was too big of a coward to pick his own running-mate, and allowed his "advisers" to choose for him.

he's so ensconced in 1958, that he apparently thinks that women are interchangeable.. like Legos ..

The Dems had Hillary, so he needed a "gal" too, so why not get a "purty one".. a sexy one.

He wanted Joe Lieberman to run with him, or maybe his little wingman, Lindsay, but he was too weak to even choose his own running mate, and now that he admits what WE all knew from the get-go, he's got people out there trashing her. This is spite, and nothing more, but HE asked her, and only HE is to blame for the way things turned out for him.

All he's proving is that he would have made a TERRIBLE president. He's got no class.

1. The fact that he allowed Palin to be the pick was indicative of his unreadiness.

4. And shame on Palin for accepting knowing she had these
family issues about to be go public. She's shameless and her ego doesn't allow her to realize she is not national candidate material.

I can't stand up for her. She's an embarrassment to all the intelligent women who could have been chosen.

21. Very well put!
How many times did she wink and flirt during the debate with Joe?

Palin is used to getting by on her good looks, not by using intelligence. And at her age, that's a very sad thing.

and demand to be put on the ticket.. HE asked her.. HE's the one at fault.. She is what she is, and we all saw it immediately, he was too dense to see it..

16. Or he did see it but thought all women were like that
so what's the problem?

In any case, he was a terrible candidate not only for his incompetent selection of a running mate but for his overall ignorance of the world as it is today.

His choice of Phil Gramm as financial adviser was more odious to me than his choice of Palin was.

she's a jerk too though so they were the perfect couple.

8. McCain is older, has more experience...
He should have known better than to allow such things... to be said OR done! They didn't learn a damn thing during the campaign. Obama showed how much classier it is NOT to be an asshole toward your opponent. The more the GOPers whine, the better it is for Dems going forward. Let 'em whine... poke 'em with a sharp stick if they stop;)

He is no better than she; both are NOT ready for prime time, that's for sure.

11. Anyone who has lived in Alaska knows this: The Lead Dog Has the Best View.
Sarah's problem was that she didn't do what the SECOND dog is supposed to do, which is stick their nose up the ass of the lead dog. Instead, she wanted to pull the sled in a completely different direction.

She chose to get in harness; she should have "behaved." Message adjustment is what happens when you make that kind of agreement--Biden did it, GHWB did it, Gore did it. About the only one who didn't do it was Cheney--because he was the lead dog, and Porgie was riding on his back.

Of COURSE McCain picked a woman. He was anticipating a ticket that had Obama and Clinton on it. His problem is, he picked the WRONG woman.

Yeah, he would have made a terrible president--but she would have made an even worse VP. A very toxic person, is the AK guv.

30. Lemme tell ya a little story from Arizona
Back in the 80s there was this crazy wingnut who wanted to run for governor. Some Dems thought it would be a good idea to support him in the GOP primary. They formed a group to help and raise funds for him. They were very pleased with themselves because they thought, surely, this loon couldn't possibly survive a general election. The crazy guy won his primary and went on to win the Governor's race. His name was Evan Mecham. Before he was impeached for being a crook he distinguished himself worldwide for refusing to sign the MLK holiday and causing the Super Bowl to pull out of AZ. Moral of the story: Be careful what you wish for.

The Vanity Fair writer in question published a hit piece against Bill Clinton last year.

""Calling Purdum a 'scumbag,' Clinton said 'he's one of the guys that propagated all those lies about Whitewater for Kenneth Starr. He's just a dishonest guy -- can't help it.'"

They chose her. It's not she barged in and staged a coup to become their VP nominee. They can just cowboy up and take responsibility for their poor judgment (for which I am grateful). :nopity:

low gas prices. McCain is one of the few decent scolds the rethugs have left. Another bomb bomb Iran would do me fine bout now. Senior moment, I'll take it. And while McCain and Palin play Andy Kaufmann and wrestler chic, I will go around back and get on hands and knees behind them. If they request dueling pistols, I will oblige. Sure glad with all their impetuousness, their most deadly weapon is a tongue, instead of an itchy trigger finger, on a red button.

31. McCain comes off looking bad too
since he chose a "difficult" and "un-ready" VP. This person would've been one step from the presidency and McCain potentially put our country in the hands of an "un-ready" VP. I don't feel bad for Palin though. She used McCain just as much as McCain used her. I don't think Palin would've ever risen to national prominence without being selected as VP. Now, she actually as the potential to be the Republican nominee for President of the United States.

but Palin is also classless and a major hypocrite herself, so I think it's a good thing McCain and his people are airing their dirty laundry. Now if only Palin and her people would follow suit we could get a good circular republican firing squad started.

Sure, McCain was an idiot for even offering her the chance. The fact that she was even on the list just shows that McCain didn't have the backbone to say "No" to his advisers. But, she also should have been smart enough to know she wasn't ready.

If the things they are saying are true, she's an even bigger self-absorbed idiot than I thought.

37. Palin may have prevented a total wipe out for McCain
The Republican base had no love for McCain but were energised by Palin.

McCain's campaign was dead in water until he selected Palin.

People at the rallies came to see Palin and not McCain.

It is no fault of Palin's that McCain was severely handicapped by being tied to the most unpopular President ever recorded.

It is no fault of Palin's that McCain looked and acted old, grumpy and past his prime.

It is no fault of Palin's that McCain couldn't hope to match the fund raising ability of the Obama campaign.

It's highly unlikely that any Republican could have defeated the Obama juggernaut.

While members of McCain's campaign staff may quibble about Palin and her performance, the blame for McCain's defeat lies with them, McCain himself and forces beyond anyone's control.

Stupid of McCain staffers to think she would be qualified and act as if they were forced to go along, and stupid of Palin to think, and still think, she was qualified for the national stage. Yes, unnamed sources are pretty shitty, but someone who calls herself a pitbull in lipstick and thinks that she's contender in 2012 should get fucking USED TO IT. No sympathy. It's politics.
