1. That is NOT a station wagon!
Ford is making one again - it has a stupid name (can't think of it) but it is a real station wagon.

7. Unless it has fake wood paneling...
it's not a station wagon.

11. And Ford has one too--called a FORD FLEX---
Edited on Thu Jun-25-09 06:48 PM by texanshatingbush
I saw one in the parking lot yesterday and came home exclaiming to my husband how incredibly UGLY it was.

To visualize: imagine the Cadillac station wagon pictured in the OP; replace all the curved angles seen on the Cadillac with right angles, paint it refrigerator white and make sure there is NO trim on it, then run horizontal "inverted ribs" down the side of the vehicle from the back door to the end of the car (where the wood would have been on a station wagon from the 40's or 50's), and there you have it: BEYOND MAINSTREAM UGLY !!!!!!

19. Yeah, that's the one. Sure it is ugly, but at least it is a station wagon!
Wait, when were station wagons ever pretty?

16. they both already have sation wagons.
Ford has the Freestyle and Cadillac has the - forgot the name. i test drove both cuz i wanted a larger vehicle, but not a mini van or SUV.

20. I haven't seen anything out of any other manufacturer than Ford that is even close to a stationwagon
The mini-SUV things they call "cross-overs" don't have shit for a cargo bay.

2. We are truly blessed here on DU
to have so many Automotive Industry experts on hand.

And to think we had but just a handful prior to bankruptcy.

8. It would seem that the handful of automotive industry experts must
not have been working with the big three, otherwise there might not be a post including the words "prior to bankruptcy." Where the crap were they?

3. That's fugly - but does it have something else going for it?
Like is it powered by 50 hamsters running on treadmills inside the engine compartment? Does it run on cow farts?

If there isn't some technical advance in this car that I don't know about, I'd have to say - General Motors is in deep kimchee.

You have no clue.

So why do you post about such things?

Because it's fun to shoot from the hip?

14. This isn't part of a plan,
this is a car that's been in a several-years-long development cycle. Cars do not spring forth fully-formed from the forehead of Zeus. Much work goes into them.

15. Similar to the Malibu hatchback, a practical vehicle that they shitcanned.
If this has a decent size cargo area and good gas mileage, it might sell.

Personally, I don't give a damn how a vehicle looks if it is practical and efficient.

32. The best station wagons ever built were the:
57, 58, 59 Plymouths, Dodges, Chryslers.

With the exception of the Chrysler(440 Hemi), the others had a fuel efficient 318 V8.

Big family...these cars seated 9 people and could carry anything you needed for the home or vacation.

34. I think that it looks fine, although I really prefer the Ford Flex.
The red with the white top is refreshingly retro.

But then, I liked the Aztec, the Gremlin, and yes, the Pacer, too.
