March with us. (Lt Dan Choi)
Edited on Mon Jun-22-09 06:05 PM by Mari333
I earned the principles of duty and honor, service and integrity as a cadet at West Point. With a degree in Arabic Language I knew that my skills could play an important role in a mission much greater than myself. As an infantry officer in the US Army, I have served my country in Iraq where we placed the mission before our own personal agendas. We do not run and hide from our responsibilities, from our duty. In the face of danger, we stand up. Together. We lace up our boots and march. Together. We fight. Together.

4. Those of us whose convictions
are not so weak as to be swayed by anonymous posters on message boards, and those who have hearts, will support the march.

:hi:

6. Those of us who choose not to shit on those who help us...
Edited on Mon Jun-22-09 06:28 PM by JuniperLea
Need to wash our hair that night.

Or... will do what our hearts lead us to do, in silence, so we don't get shit on some more... like being called weak, or heartless...

Oh, the irony... that post makes me seasick...

22. As a gay man let me say, "I don't want your support". How's that?
Please don't bother to harass LGBT people in these threads at DU. You obviously have no substantive commitment to civil rights or civil equality.

No LGBT person at DU should feel like they need to shapeshift to massage your fragile ego.

Now, if you don't mind, leave the good LGBT people of this board alone.

Have a nice day! :)

24. The needs of the many exceed the needs of the few or the one.
You're not an ally (at this time), might as well quit pretending.

Maybe you could speak to your priest, rabbi or spiritual leader? They can help you get over your anger with LGBT people.

For what it's worth: I forgive you.

Have a lovely day! :grouphug:

25. LOL!!!
I would say the anger is on the other soul!

LOL!!!

The level of disconnect is really quite amuzing. Do you write comedy for a living? Or is it just a hobby?

8. If I still have a job....
I'll probably find out in the next few weeks if I will be among the layoffs. I'd love to go support the cause if I have a paycheck and vacation time by then. Otherwise, I will be cheering on from here, or hopefully finding a local support event to attend.

I am confident I will get another job if I do get cut.... just not sure I would feel comfortable planning a trip under the uncertainty and this job market. But regardless, I will be there in spirit!

13. Definitely would if I could
Unfortunately I'm living in a hole and eating toast. A Cross-continental ticket is a bit outside of my range.

Can I do it in spirit?

14. We are going!
Still have to figure out where we're staying, but we will be there. I'm marched for peace, I've marched for reproductive rights, and this time I need to march for equal rights.
