Minuteman Murders -9/11 Call - You Can Hear The Shots Fired
From C&L:

Remember how all those right-wing pundits proclaimed the Minutemen as being just like a neighborhood watch? Michelle Malkin called it "the mother of all neighborhood watches." Lou Dobbs labeled it "this country's biggest neighborhood watch program". Bill O'Reilly declared: "Talking Points applauds the Minutemen. They are in the great tradition of neighborhood watch groups."

Boy, that sure is some neighborhood watch:

Accused ringleader Shawna Forde told her family in recent months that she had begun recruiting members of the Aryan Nations and that she planned to begin robbing drug-cartel leaders, her brother Merrill Metzger said Monday in a telephone interview from Redding, Calif.

"She was talking about starting a revolution against the United States government," he said.

Here is a recording of the 911 call made by the victim who survived -- the mother of 9-year-old Brisenia Flores, who was shot "two or three times" while her mother lay nearby. As she's on the phone, you can hear the killers return and open fire on her again, and hear her return fire:

1. The 9/11 operator was truly impressive
Caring, supportive, while all the time gently getting the woman to describe the crime.

But the family dogs just ran out the door and didn't come back? Lot of help they were.

2. This is Minutemen American Defense, not the Minuteman Project
It is disingenuous to infer they are the same.

5. Well obviously they are not the same.
The Minuteman Project can't be that bad if you can't make a case against them without resorting to lies.

6. Yes...they are different groups.

It's like calling the Nazis liberals because they have the word "Socialist" in their name.
Or even comparing the "mainline" LDS Church with the FLDS wackos.

7. Well actually it's not.

Attempting to portray fascist Nazis as liberals is an is an exercise in projection. The Nazis have been properly judged for their actions without having to resort to lies. But in this case we have a clear attempt to blame the Minuteman Project for a specific act that was not of their doing. As such it is false statement made with a deliberate intent to deceive.

And your gross generalization is an indication of an opinion formed beforehand or without thought or reason.

8. Your defense of these two groups is baffling for someone who purports to be a Dem.
They are obviously not the same group, just two sides of the same coin. Not a (very thin) dime's bit of difference between them.

Racist and violent - just different membership lists (with many dual-citizens on both).

9. I joined the discussion in defense of truth.
You joined in defense of a lie.

All Democrats do not favor more liberal immigration policies, particularly concerning those who are trying to come to the US without permission. Such a belief does not make one a racist. And even a 'real' Democrat can have an opinion that differs from your own.

I don't consider the original Black Panther Party for Self-Defense a racist organization. The New Black Panther Party, which is a totally separate group, is guilty of violent racism. If I follow your example, however, I should lump them both together as hate groups. Do you really think that is objective or fair? I don't.

I have no doubt the Minutemen American Defense is racist and violent. But without qualification you accuse the Minuteman Project of the same sins. I don't know if they are guilty of these things or not but since you have staked your ground I wish you would make your case directly against them.

12. They're closer than you think

Dear Readers,

I talked to Shawna Forde yesterday about the story written by journalist Scott North of the Everett Herald and she opined that the newspaper story was reasonably fair and balanced and covered most aspects of her life since she was born.

Forde and I both think the newspaper did exactly what it is supposed to do: report facts based on investigation and interrogatories. The story is neither a “hit piece” against Forde, nor a supportive propaganda piece. Simply, it is newspaper reporting at its best and within the professional canons of journalism.

Despite Shawna Forde’s checkered past, here is a woman who really has been a “victim” throughout her life, perhaps willingly, perhaps unwillingly. To have come through the trials and uncertainties of adolescence and young adulthood with odds stacked against you, and to have overcome those odds, is a statement of her willingness to ultimately do the right thing.

Few of us do not have a skeleton in our closet, especially some of Forde’s harshist critics. The harsh critics have managed to hide those skeletons, unlike Forde, who is willing to face up to her mistakes as an imperfect mortal and then to face down demons from her past.

In my experience with Ms. Forde I conclude that she is no whiner. She is a stoic struggler who has chosen to put country, community, and a yearning for a civilized society ahead of avarice and self-glorifying ego.

The Minuteman Project is proud to be a supporter of Shawna Forde’s Minutemen(women) American Defense (M.A.D.)

Jim Gilchrist, Founder and President, The Minuteman Project, Inc.

4. It's 9-1-1... not 9/11 - that's the date of the terrorist attacks.
Sorry - pet peeve of mine. Just like calling nine one one, nine eleven.

Emergency service personnel say always to call it nine one one so that a small child won't go looking for the number eleven on a phone if he or she needs help.
