Just got back from picking up the truck. Brakes Are fixed, truck is fine.
(see --> http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=389&topic_id=583178&mesg_id=583178 )

Walk into the house and the phone rings - it's the place I interviewed with LAST WEEK

seems there was some sort of emergency project and the guy was tied up with that, sorry didn't get back to me sooner, please hang on until next week will call Monday or Tuesday

Interview this morning went well. Place wasn't what I expected based on the impression I got from their website. They have several openings and just a few applications. HR person told me the engineers that interviewed me were pleased with me, and they would get back to me next week MONDAY or TUESDAY.

so now I have two jobs to choose from, and have to find a car...

the first place is an hour commute on back roads, and up a mountain - I the winter this will not be fun.

the second place is a little over 1/2 hour commute on real highways and is located maybe 3 miles off the highway - much better driving

4. Follow your heart, Rad!
Sit back and consider the people, instead of the commute.

Congrats!

8. both places seem nice
no hinky bad vibes from either of them.

not sure what the bene's are from job#1, the bene's from job#2 are nothing spectacular.

I did ask for more money at job#2 than I originally asked for at job#1, we'll see what they offer.

If I take job#1 - the car will have to have 4w or all-wheel drive as I have to go up a mountain that peaks at 2,500 ft and has an 18% grade.

Job#2 - the roads are better and I could get away with a front wheel drive car...

might be time to roll the bones and see what they say...

Good luck with your choices!

11. Congratulations!
I was wondering how it went for you this week. I put you on my prayer list. I live in Michigan, where jobs are scarce, so I have many around me who need jobs. I am very happy for you!!!

13. weighing the options
other than the commute and pay

Job#1 would offer more variety, and design experience which is something that keeps me interested - on the other hand there's no room for advancement and doesn't look like the company is interested in growing

Job#2 the areas of drafting are segregated from each other, little 'departments' specializing in one area of the project....which could get boring after awhile --- but then the company is growing, so there's room for advancement
