More Bush Hypocrisy: Attacks Pelosi on Syria, but Approves GOP Visit and CIA/Syria Torture Deal
A BUZZFLASH NEWS ANALYSIS

After blasting House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's trip to Syria, the White House has once again been caught in a web of hypocrisy. Many top Republicans - including the Bush Administration itself - have long worked with Syria without such criticism.

The most recent example is an officially approved delegation of three Republican congressmen who visited Syria and met with its president just days before Pelosi. "It was done in cooperation with the administration," said Rep. Joe Pitts' chief of staff. Rep. Darrell Issa, an Arab-American with a history of visits to the region, praised the dialogue and said it "will go on continuously and constructively."

Come to think of it, weren't those three Republicans (along with the one in Pelosi's delegation) doing exactly what was recommended by the Baker-Hamilton Iraq Study Group Report created and authorized by Bush? Not to mention the fact that Bush sent then-Secretary of State Colin Powell to Syria in 2003...

7. They do this with a purpose because they are OWNED by the corporations

that profit from the War Machine's Military Industrial Complex.

The media CEOs will ensure that all programing will continue to follow a "divide and conquer" strategy so that our country will always have killers and evildoers in an effort to promote perpetual war. In other words, the M$M knows exactly what it's doing: Serving it's masters ... working tirelessly for the best interest of large corporations such as GE, Lockheed Martin, Halliburton, Raytheon, Blackwater, CACI, et. al. :puke:

9. Indeed.
Six corporations, to be exact.

What I found interesting recently was that the MPAA also basically caters to these companies as well, which explains the promotion of violence in movies (prepare people for war) by being more lenient on ratings for certain films over others.

Great documentary film I saw on... IFC or Sundance... can't remember: was called "This Film is Not Yet Rated" - was all about this and was pretty amazing.

Liberal Hollywood, my ass.

16. Since you mentioned the media
I watched a few minutes of Tucker on MSNBC and while it may appear he is not trashing the Democrats as he used to on CNN....He just uses a little different approach and the guests he had tonight was for the sole purpose of trashing Nancy Pelosi..
I believe that the State Department convinced the Israeli Prime Minister to contradict Pelosi. t is just so obvious...That's the way Republicans work..A Karl Rove move at best..

19. The MSM will soon
start catering to the Democrats now as they know and the Powers that Be know that the people have had it with the republicans - so now the Democrats are up - and quite frankly people - it's just exchanging one set of problems for another. Neither party is on our side and both of them are full of elite wealthy, criminals. The republicans wage the wars and the dems do nothing about it. The republicans rip off the people - and so do the dems - they just throw us a bone or two to make it look good - they have got to keep up the farce that this is actually a democracy and one party actually represents the people - they don't - The sooner we all can face that truth - and know it for what it is the quicker we can begin straightening this mess out. We have been living a lifetime of lies - propaganda and mind control. Our loved ones rare nothing but army fodder for the racketeers and we are all at their disposal - the only thing free and liberal about this country is the leaders effort to enslave us - it's a more progressive effort than history has shown. It's still enslavement - It's still lies - It's still wrong - Watch what they do and not what they say! And As always, keep your eye on the bloodspill people -

20. You're right - we live a delusion while we simultaneously sign over
our life and have it taken from us.

There are fellow citizens who are ahead of us and they have a plan in their hand and head.

My starting point is the DLC - I will support NO ONE from the DLC.

When Ralph Nader said there is no difference, I couldn't agree. My idealism blinded me. I looked more at myself than the Dem Party to assess what he said. I now think he must have been speaking about the DLC.

I don't want to be called a progressive, liberal, tinhat, or any other name. I want to keep what I was raised to believe was mine and improve it, not destroy it.

The truth hurts. We must 'see' our Party - we must know our enemies within. Why go from one war President to another war President. Why go from a corporate and military WH to another corporate and military WH.

21. Exactly!
We need to get rid of the parties all together. let people run on their merits. We also need to stop the elite wealthy (the smallest minority in this country ) from running what we want to believe is a democracy. Too much talk and too little action. No excsues anymore about it taking time. And I am sick to death of hearing the political process and the veto and the simple majority and the responsible withdrawl and this and that - It's all just a load of crap - an attempt to satiate the masses while the elite wealthy continue indulging their earnings while the blood spills and the people die - just like the cannon fodder we are to them. WE the PEOPLE - need to look at the truth and then we can fix it but as long as we keep believing that the dems are going to save us or any other politician or this political process we are so screwed! WAKE UP AND SMELL THE CRIMINALS ON THE HILL AND IN THE WHITEHOUSE -

As far as whose side I am on - I'm on my own side - the side of the people! They (leaders) are NOT! Those that are or were - are already gone and usually go pretty damned quick - it's hard being a fish swimming in a fish tank - they will chew you up and spit you out.

11. Pelosi made some headway--perhaps that's the REAL problem. Money shot:
Edited on Thu Apr-05-07 03:08 PM by blondeatlast
From the same article:

George Bush must be absolutely terrified that a Democratic woman from San Francisco is upstaging him in not only the Middle East but across the globe. Even worse, Pelosi's use of diplomacy threatens to undermine Bush's tactics in Iraq and his plans for future wars. Without the facts or logic on his side, Bush's only recourse for defending himself is this hypocritical and ridiculous attack.

Can the American people make Madame Speaker our de facto Secretary of State?

And even more strangely, Michael Weiner Savage...did.

18. Pelosi's staff calls Washington Post editorial "poisonous"
Edited on Thu Apr-05-07 09:17 PM by antiimperialist
This has become a pattern. The Washington Post's right-wing editorialists continue to appear as if they do not use the Washington Post as their news source.
In an editorial today, labeled poisonous by Nancy Pelosi's staff,
the editorialist claimed that "Pelosi is attempting to “establish a shadow presidency"; but it was the WAPO's own Elizabeth Williamson who the same day reported that "“Foreign policy experts generally agree that Pelosi’s dealings with Middle East leaders have not strayed far, if at all, from those typical for a congressional trip.”
