This Sotomayor "debate" is getting increasingly silly.
Sotomayor has a pretty centrist judicial record. None of her decisions are kookie and, apart from the New Haven decision (more on that, later), none are remotely "activist".

The repubican spokesmodels and politicians really have no valid point to be made. They're out there yammering for pure pro forma reasons.

And to raise money from the real right wing kooks.

New Haven ...... she upheld a lower court. Her reasons are pretty solid and pretty mainstream. The right is trying to make hay on the underlying issues raised in the original lawsuit. In so doing, they make an exceedingly specious argument. And they know it. Listen to them frame it. Never on the point of law upon which she ruled. Always on the underlying issue - on which she never ruled

The repubicans are just phoning this one in.

1. Good point. Silly is being too kind. Did Buchanan _ really _ just say
on Hardball that Sotomayor learned to speak English in college - and put her down because reading children's books to learn English is "really not 'college-work' "... WTH?????

I hope I simply imagined that racist lunacy.

4. Yes she was - I think her parents spoke Spanish primarily, her father didn't speak English at all.
Not that the language her parents spoke matters - Sotomayor was born in the Bronx (I think) and she is as American as any other American.... and smarter than a good many of us, it appears.

These arguments are beyond silly - they're harmful.

5. Doesn't matter where she was born - Puerto Ricans ARE US
citizens, every one.
Patty is just being a real asshole about her. The only woman in authority he likes is his sister.

6. They got nothing.
So, it's just the narcissistic right-wing opportunists throwing boob-tube tantrums.

The Jerry Springer media feeds on their psychotic, slack-jawed rants.
