Liz Cheney.... can someone please explain to me what her expertise is that

allows her to be all over the tv? was she in the military? CIA? Is there any basis for her opinion mattering other than her father is dick cheney? and if so, then she has no reason to be able to speak on torture or national security. her only purpose for being on tv should be to talk about her father and nothing else. I don't understand why I keep seeing her on MSNBC to talk about national security or GITMO or torture or obama.

22. I can't remember what law firm Liz was an associate at

but it was one of the big ones. I work for a member of The World Bank Group in the Legal Department. For several years we had a deal with some of the firms we used as outside counsels on our projects to take promising fairly senior associates on for a year or two as secondees. They worked on projects exactly like our regular lawyers. The idea was that they would learn how we did things and when they went back to their firms we would be able to count on them to handle projects exactly as a regular department lawyer here would, thus leveraging our small staff. In some cases it worked so well that we eventually hired the secondees to work for us on a regular basis (my current manager is one of those).

In Liz's case, um, not so much. She was here for several years - I believe the reason was that she had one or maybe even 2 pregnancies while a secondee and the maternity leave she took off got added to her assignment time. Not to mention that our then department head thought it was really cool to have the daughter of the current VP working in her department.

One day I got a call from one of our regular lawyers telling me that I was assigned to two projects. The attorney on the projects was Liz. We went to the assigning attorney's office to get the details on the projects. They were small but developmentally important. The assigning attorney told Liz to draft the loan documents and had me start working on the retaining local counsel and drafting powers of attorney. The next day, Liz stopped by my desk, announced that she had too much work and gave me the documents to draft. It wasn't particularly challenging drafting and didn't take too long, but still it was annoying.

I gave everything to the assigning attorney and went on my merry way. Several weeks went by and I didn't hear anything. I happened to run into Liz in the corridor and asked her what was going on. Her response was she had no idea. Umm, ok, you are the attorney in charge and you don't know? So I went back to the assigning attorney and asked what was going on. She snorted and told me that my drafting had been fine but the deals were on hold pending some further negotiations. And she added that Liz had been taken off all project work, given a private office next to our department head's office, only had to share a secretary with one other person and all she was doing was making plans for GOP receptions, parties and fund raisers.

and all she said was to "second" daddy. And she was presented as a "Republican strategist." I am getting tired of all of those pundits, and strategists, and experts who make the TV circuits. Is this how they are making a living? And why are we willing to pay for them?

I saw her on last week and she was there for a loooong time. The entire discussion was continually marked with "your father" and "Liz's father" when the other side got to speak. The other people clearly didn't want to offend dear Liz and were very timid in their remarks.
