"Idiocracy" is on Comedy Central at 6PM
I caught the last 45 minutes of it last night. I had never seen it. Very funny and very apt.

And so does good old coconut water. That water section was prescient - don't rule it out in the future.

http://runtrails.blogspot.com/2007/03/coconut-water-natures-electrolyte.html
coconut water as a refreshing post-exercise drink. The taste is sweet but subtle, but what really wowed me was reading the ingredient label. Coconut water naturally has 650 mg of potassium (15x more than a banana), 25mg of magnesium, and 35 mg of sodium! All of this in a 10 oz, 60 calorie package. It's like nature's gatorade

29. Actually, the story is about dysgenic pressure.
Edited on Mon May-25-09 10:32 PM by backscatter712
Think of the Eloi from The Time Machine.

Evolutionary pressures cause a downward trend in intelligence. Between that and a culture that encourages macho idiocy, anti-intellectualism and mindless corporatism, you end up with Idiocracy.

Man, I could sure use a latte...

because I am sure that they did
or at least would never release their name for use

Costco seems to have a better understanding of things.

I know there are some around here that bag on Costco for anti-union activities which isn't great but they are a pretty good corporation...as corporations go these days.

22. Agreed. I was confused why Costco was used instead of Wal-Mart.
Maybe the movie makers are saying Wal-Mart won't survive?

Probably the most hopeful thing in the movie!

24. After it was made, FOX deliberately suppressed it.
It became a cult classic anyways, but FOX paid all that money to Mike Judge, were planning on opening the film in several hundred theaters, and making a big production.

Then the CEOs saw the screening, killed all the advertising, and gave the film a whole dozen theaters - the minimum required by contract. They clearly wanted to make this movie go away. Political reasons? Almost certainly.
