NBC Nightly News..War in Afghanistan is now War On Drugs...
NBC: "The war in Afghanistan has morphed into a war on drugs." 1,000 Taliban killed in the last week. DEA Agents now swarm the country.

"Farm Aid".. the US Government is going to convince war lords to grow cucumbers instead of opium.

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/3032619/#30797264
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Why is the US starting a war on drugs in Afghanistan? Why are US DEA Agents deployed on foreign soil and why do US tax payers have to foot the bill for this mess?

50 Million people in America without Health care....2000 auto dealerships closed... and we can afford to wage a DEA War on Drugs in Afghanistan? HUH? Lots of questions..no answers.

Does anyone really believe they are going to convince the farmers in Afghanistan to grow cucumbers instead of poppies? Something here is not what it seems...

7. This quote from George Orwell should explain it to you nicely
"...who was fighting whom at any given moment, would have been utterly impossible, since no written record, and no spoken word, ever made mention of any other alignment than the existing one. At this moment, for example, in 1984 (if it was 1984), Oceania was at war with Eurasia and in alliance with Eastasia. In no public or private utterance was it ever admitted that the three powers had at any time been grouped along different lines. Actually, as Winston well knew, it was only four years since Oceania had been at war with Eastasia and in alliance with Eurasia. But that was merely a piece of furtive knowledge which he happened to possess because his memory was not satisfactorily under control. Officially the change of partners had never happened. Oceania was at war with Eurasia: therefore Oceania had always been at war with Eurasia. The enemy of the moment always represented absolute evil, and it followed that any past or future agreement with him was impossible."

9. The Pentagon floated this about 2 months ago--I picked it up in some article posted
here at DU, but there wasn't much about it in the corpo/fascist press, nor much comment here. It seemed obvious to me that the Pentagon figured that the Forever War was going to need a new justification, and, what with a new administration and all, they ran that one up the flagpole--eradicating the poppy in Afghanistan. The trouble is, wherever the U.S. military goes, there the drug trade flourishes. And that is exactly what happened in Afghanistan. No they want to wipe it out. And that is as phony--and as much of a war profiteer boondoggle--as everything else about the Forever War. Have they stemmed the tide of cocaine flowing like a river out of Colombia? No. $6 BILLION in military aid wasted on that one. Now Afghanistan. Face it. We are the slaves of the war profiteers, and until we reclaim our vote counting system from the handful of rightwing corporations that are running it with 'TRADE SECRET,' PROPRIETARY programming code and virtually no audit/recount controls, thus it will remain. Transparent vote counting won't change things overnight, but it is the bottom-line condition for change to occur. That is why they took transparent vote counting away.
