4. "privatization" of government etc-is a core policy of George W. Bush
and the "deregulation" led to criminals writing the "laws", private military, private central banks, etc.

quite a bit of fascism in all that

3. England at the time of the revolution?
Without France we might have been screwed. Shhhh, don't tell the conservatives about that one.

15. My vote as well.
It wouldn't have taken much for us to be part England still today.

6. The United States of America?
It was built the same as every other empire, and it will collapse the same as every other empire.

8. When do you expect that to happen?
And what do you think the outcome will be? Balkanization? Or something along the lines of Great Britain, holding onto the 50 states, but reduced power? Or what?

I was about to send off a check to Obama, but I guess you are right, no point; may as well go get that new Criterion collection of early Bergman.

16. Depends on how long we have the energy to keep it together
I know you're no fan of defeatists, and I guess I'm sort of one, kind of, a little. I'm not saying don't donate to Obama. Write checks to your hearts content. As long as we have the energy(slavery, oil, nuclear, or something that puts those to shame) we'll increase the scale.

Obviously we can't expand west anymore, so it won't really be America, it'll be more of a global thing. More integration will happen. The EU is trying to do it, it's the same process that created America, so I'm not talking about some Satanic European One World Government plot. It's just how power concentrates into states.

So we either keep expanding until the world is one integrated unit/entity if we have the increasing amounts of energy to meet demand, or we don't have that required energy to keep entropy from taking over, things start falling apart, and we'll have to see how many people are still alive before we can figure out what to do then.

I'm not saying don't try, I'm not saying don't care. I try and I care. It may not be trying and caring about the same things as a lot of people, but a little diversity never hurt.

9. Hubris and empire building.
The notion that the United States of America is something special - that our greed and quest for power is different than any of the other empires that preceded ours and that we can escape history and avoid the inevitable downfall.

11. Physically I would say it is the former USSR, though that went both ways
As to the political existence of America under the constitution, it is no doubt the installation of the Chimpadministration.

19. The administration is pragmatic and has heavily synthesized
from every one-yet the fascist model is most influential--this administration has universal fascists in it, open to all races, ethnic backgrounds, etc.

14. Hitler
He almost won WWII, and would've brought the US to its knees. The Soviets were always weaker than they appeared. The US will recover from the Bush administration starting in 2008.

20. Not really
Hitler had no more designs on the USA than he did on Japan. He considered us mongrels who would fail on our own with no need of help from him.
