I thought that question deserved a thread all its own! Too many think that in order to ensure a decent life for everyone we must destroy the rich. The guy who thinks he's rich because he has a boat in the garage after working over time four years has no idea of what it means to be Walton family rich. The guy with the boat has been voting the Republican ticket because they tell him that the Democrats are going to take his boat away and give it to some lazy kid on welfare. That's wrong, but the guy with the boat doesn't realize that.

There have been attempts to limit displays of personal wealth since the times of the Romans and probably before then. (Google sumptuary tax) I'd be happy if we could ensure that everyone has a chance at a decent life. After that, I couldn't care less if someone decides to gold plate their poodle's toe nails!
