Pakistani president: Osama bin Laden is dead
http://rawstory.com/08/news/2009/05/10/pakistani-president-believes-osama-bin-laden-is-dead/

Two weeks ago, Pakistan President Asif Ali Zadari suggested that Osama bin Laden might be dead, saying that U.S. and Pakistani intelligence agencies had been unable to detect any sign of the world’s most wanted man since an audio recording of his voice was released in March.

Sunday morning, Zadari went further: “I don’t think he’s alive,” the president told NBC’s David Gregory. “I have a strong feeling and reason to believe that.” Zadari continued: “I have asked my counterparts in the American intelligence services and they haven’t heard him in seven years.”

The CIA has not confirmed that the voice purporting to be bin Laden in the March recording was in fact bin Laden. U.S. officials have claimed that bin Laden could be hiding in the mountainous region along the border of Afghanistan and Pakistan.

Just before saying that he believes bin Laden is dead, Zadari told Gregory that “You have been looking for eight years, you tell me. You lost him in Torah Borah, I didn’t.”

(end snip)

emphasis mine

The truth will out, won't it.

Does this mean Osama didn't really vote for John Kerry?

21. Some eight-year-old on the CYA payroll.
The production quality was shameful - hell, it was criminal - on both the audio and video mashups.

The release of the "Young Bin Laden" video was the lowest of low points in propaganda and should never be repeated. There's just no excuse when even the cameras come with limited editing capabilities.

Hiding in the hills, bombed daily, on dialysis, AND he puts on 50 pounds in 60 days.
Yeah, THAT can happen.

You lost him in Torah Borah, I didn’t.”

imo this comment was absolutely called for ~ especially when French and U.S. military personel who were at Torah Borah have claimed that the Pentagon ordered them to leave the area when they reported bin Laden's location.

9. No shit.
Plenty of us suspected as much, years ago.

I especially enjoyed the comment from the "Bin Laden is dead" news report a few weeks ago--someone in Pakistan said something along the lines of "Bin Laden doesn't exist anymore." It was such odd phrasing, it made me think the person meant "With the Bush administration gone, those weird things they were calling bin Laden (audio tapes, video tapes) won't be turning up anymore."

12. Zadari's dead wife Benazir Bhutto said Bin Laden was dead
in her interview with David Frost but M$Greedia chose to ignore her comment. What's more she died 'mysteriously' shortly after in that famous bomb blast.
Will we ever know who killed her?

When you read the body of the piece, you will see that the Pakistani president said he "thinks" Bin Laden is dead. He is not asserting or providing evidence that Bin Laden is dead.

then how the hell did Bin Laden speak just in time before the 2004 election..exactly what so many of us have said each and every time the media and Bush white house paraded a video of Bin Laden that it was all fucking fake..scare factor don'tcha know..and where were these questions from the media then???????why only now does the media think it is their job to ask these fucking questions..the same questions we here and elsewhere have been screaming for almost 8 years???????? Hmmmm just convenient now media?????????

So tell us ..who was on the tape in 2004 right before the election??

and if we tortured didn't we know that?? and wasn't that the real fucking reason for torture ..to give Cheney and Bush the murderer cover???????

When do we get a damned Independent special prosecutor???????

Do we take to the streets to demand it..becuause it seems to me that is the only way we will get one.

A friend sent me a link to a Pakistani newspaper about 7 years ago. It had pictures and a story of his funeral. It was long before I joined DU or I would have posted it.

And last time I checked that bookmarked story, it was no longer there. (Surprise!)

If not, then that means some VERY sophisticated (as in government) people did some deliberate, industrial-strength scrubbing. :scared:

Declare Victory and GET THE HELL OUT.
Our military occupation is only making things WORSE.
They will have to bring their little puppet (Karzai, Mayor of Kabul) with them because he wouldn't last a day if the Praetorian Guard leaves.

Unintended Consequence of the US brutal Occupation of Afghanistan = The Radicalization of Pakistan

If "they" occupied my state, I would be in the mountains with a rifle too (rocket launcher and IEDs if I could get them).

31. Fox News: "Bin Laden Already Dead" - December 26, 2001
Fox News: "Bin Laden Already Dead"

Wednesday, December 26, 2001

Usama bin Laden has died a peaceful death due to an untreated lung complication, the Pakistan Observer reported, citing a Taliban leader who allegedly attended the funeral of the Al Qaeda leader.

"The Coalition troops are engaged in a mad search operation but they would never be able to fulfill their cherished goal of getting Usama alive or dead," the source said.

Bin Laden, according to the source, was suffering from a serious lung complication and succumbed to the disease in mid-December, in the vicinity of the Tora Bora mountains. The source claimed that bin Laden was laid to rest honorably in his last abode and his grave was made as per his Wahabi belief.

The Death of bin Ladenism
By AMIR TAHERI
Published: July 11, 2002

Osama bin Laden is dead. The news first came from sources in Afghanistan and Pakistan almost six months ago: the fugitive died in December and was buried in the mountains of southeast Afghanistan. Pakistan's president, Pervez Musharraf, echoed the information. The remnants of Osama's gang, however, have mostly stayed silent, either to keep Osama's ghost alive or because they have no means of communication.

With an ego the size of Mount Everest, Osama bin Laden would not have, could not have, remained silent for so long if he were still alive. He always liked to take credit even for things he had nothing to do with. Would he remain silent for nine months and not trumpet his own survival?

Even if he is still in the world, bin Ladenism has left for good. Mr. bin Laden was the public face of a brand of politics that committed suicide in New York and Washington on Sept. 11, 2001, killing thousands of innocent people in the process.

What were the key elements of that politics?

The first was a cynical misinterpretation of Islam that began decades ago with such anti-Western ideologues as Maulana Maudoodi of Pakistan and Sayyid Qutb of Egypt. Although Mr. Maudoodi and Mr. Qutb were not serious thinkers, they could at least offer a coherent ideology based on a narrow reading of Islamic texts. Their ideas about Western barbarism and Muslim revival, distilled down to bin Ladenism, became mere slogans designed to incite zealots to murder.

39. The man was born in 1957 I'm hoping we can put this all to rest...
by 2047 and all agree in the highest probability he is dead and gone.

Frankly, I'm one of those who think he's taking a dirt nap and has been for years, but I realize I have no proof other than speculations because of his reported health condition and livings conditions. Whether or not he was suffering from kidney ailments can't really be determined, but he was clearly not a picture of vim, vigor and vitality.
