John Bolton thinks the next president will be a woman
Edited on Wed May-06-09 09:09 AM by Solly Mack
"Will President Obama's successor vigorously dispute the legitimacy of foreign prosecutions, or will she follow the current Obama policy and let the foreign investigation proceed, perhaps even to trial? Obama and his advisers should think carefully about that second scenario -- now."

The opinion piece is part whining, part threat - and full attack - regarding possible torture prosecutions.

Still, unless Bolton has suddenly developed some sensitivities, that "she" was no accident.

1. I suspect he was just being cute.
Although, I think it is arguable that the two people in the United States with the greatest chance of being the next president are both women: Sarah Palin and Hillary Clinton.

Not saying that either of them is a shoo-in. But I think they would be near the top of anyone's list of possible next presidents.

6. Sure, Skinner, slap every tech worker in this country in the face. Go ahead.
Edited on Wed May-06-09 09:21 AM by antigop
Thanks so much for your support for tech workers in this country--NOT.

<edit> and every other worker who has been outsourced or replaced by an h1-b.

I guess you don't have to worry about your job being outsourced or replaced by an h1-b, do you?

16. Yes, I just slapped a bunch of people in the face...
...by posting on an Internet discussion forum. Will the millions of tech workers across this country, nursing their sore faces, ever forgive me?

18. um, yeah, you did. There are quite a few DU'ers hit by outsourcing and h1-b's.
Edited on Wed May-06-09 09:29 AM by antigop
And your support for her is a public slap in the face to all tech workers and other workers affected by outsourcing and h1-b's.

So thanks so much for your support -- NOT.

29. I'm not worried about her becoming president.....it'll never happen.
The tech workers (Dems that I know) despise her for her outsourcing/H-1B stance. Her ties to India are too strong. Plus, I do agree that she'll be too old. When McCain was running, everyone said that he was too old.

Everyone seems to be thinking too far ahead here. With Dems having full control now (President, Congress, Senate) if no jobs are seen in the near future (with unemployment continually rising and people living in tent cities) people will (unfortunately) blame them. Hopefully, if the Dems can get the votes to close the tax loopholes, maybe some of the outsourcing/offshoring to India and China will stop. Not holding my breath though.

10. Maybe so. But she would be younger than McCain was in 2008.
John McCain: 72 years old in 2008 (b. 1936)
Hillary Clinton: 69 years old in 2016 (b. 1947)

(Someone might want to double-check my math.)

I have just been slapped in the face. I am just 3 years younger than Hillary. My sister is exactly her age.....Sixty nine is not too old for this anymore. You do realize that people are living longer now, right?

Too OLD? What a slap in the face that is!

8. I'll argue that.
I don't think Sarah Palin has the proverbial snowball's chance in a warm climate of becoming the next president. She hasn't the chops and her baggage is way too cumbersome. Hillary may well still have a chance, but I doubt it. She'll be near 70 in 2016. That's not insurmountable, but it's a factor.

32. William Krystal was in contact with Palin before she was chosen as VP candidate by McCain.
Could be all the creepy neocons have focused on her because she is the empty vessel they like so much in a candidate.
