Notre Dame DISAVOWS Connection to Randall Terry's Obama Attack Letter
It has come to the attention of the Alumni Association that some Notre Dame alumni recently received a letter from Randall Terry, founder of Operation Rescue, regarding the University’s invitation to President Obama to speak at this year’s Commencement.

The Alumni Association wants to assure you that letter was not sent by either the University or the Alumni Association. It was sent without our permission, approval, or prior knowledge. In addition, we did not provide any alumni contact information to the organization that sent the letter.

The Alumni Association’s policy is to never disclose alumni contact information to any third party external to the Notre Dame community. In addition, Irish Online, our password-protected, secure website, provides alumni directory access only to ND alumni. Prior to receiving access to Irish Online, alumni must agree to adhere to the Irish Online User Policy, which states:

The Service is for official University of Notre Dame use and also for individual communication of a personal nature between members listed herein. Use of this Service for any other purpose, including but not limited to, reproducing and storing in a retrieval system by any means, electronic or mechanical; photocopying; or using the addresses or other information contained in this Service for any private solicitation or commercial or political mailing is strictly prohibited and constitutes intellectual property theft.
There is a similar privacy policy for the Alumni Directory, which is available to alumni in printed version and CD-ROM every five years.

We regret any inconvenience or concern that this incident may have caused our alumni. Please know that we remain committed to protecting the privacy of our alumni. Maintaining your trust and confidence is paramount to the Alumni Association.

If you have any questions about this matter, please contact [email protected] or (574) 631-6000.

For Notre Dame,

XXX XXXXX

My hubbie is a Notre Dame grad and received one of these letters. Here is some of what it contained:

handwritten envelope postmarked from South Bend from Randall Terry w the following enclosures:

* A sheet entitled "In Search of ND Grads to Stand for Life, Truth and Justice" which state their primary mission is:

"Cancel President Obama, Replace ND President Jenkins and rescue Notre Dame."

their secondary mission (MY CAPS):

"TO SO CONNECT PRESIDENT OBAMA TO CHILD-KILLING IN AMERICAN MINDS, SO THAT IF HE RUNS AGAIN IN 2012, HE CANNOT SEDUCE CATHOLICS AND EVANGELICALS AGAIN; TO CREATE SUCH A FIRESTORM THAT OTHER CATHOLIC COLLEGES SHY AWAY FROM HONORING THOSE WHO PROMOTE MURDER"

(Of course there is no mention of Bush's war which caused hundreds of thousands of innocent deaths without basis)

*Postcards that say " Would you invite Pilate After he condemned Christ?" with pictures of Christ , Fr Jenkins, Obama and of course a dead baby.

1. Now they should disavow all the hypocrisy and hateful discourse.
These people, few with any real tie to the university, are embarrassing Notre Dame. I'd love to be on campus for President Obama's address. I have no doubt that the university will give him a warm welcome and all the respect due his office. I am concerned about the non-affiliated hypocrites who could care less about any damage done to the university.

2. We stopped by the bookstore over spring break and encountered Obama books and posters @ the entrance
of the bookstore. We were told Obama by someone on campus that Obama won the student vote (haven't verified this but did see many Obama bumperstickers) That said, I agree they need to disavow the hatred.

3. Okay, that's a start...
...now are they going to investigate how their list got into the wrong hands? If it was an alumnus then that person should be denied access to the list. Or they need to find out if the list's security was compromised in some way.

Nevertheless, glad to see they are disavowing any connection to dirtball Randall Terry.
