Ok the rate of infection MIGHT be stabilizing in Mexico
time to give props

After all if this is the case, it is the MEASURES taken by the government to cut all kinds of sources of infection

A little knowledge goes a long way

(And yes I expect the facts impaired to make fun of this... we know about that)

Now on the DOWN side this might be establsihgin and spreading in NYC... that is bad news

But hey, all in a day's work

And yes I for one, if THIS NEWS is correct... am happy to hear it, contrary to the sarry nellies running around screaming every-time FACTS and NEWS STORIES are posted

IN fact, I'd hazard those are the ones who'd panic when told clearly (like now) NOT TO.

It distracts them while you blow their heads off.

10. I am giving it a couple of weeks
to see what they come up with when they get more testing kits. I think we will have a better feel for what is happening then.

12. What I fear is what is happening in NYC... if this is now spreading
to the four winds in NYC it means it has established itself in two countries

Aka we MIGHT, not saying it will happen, see a WHO raise in alert status

I am almost willing to bet that it depends on those hundreds of kids probably sick that bloomberg was reporting earlier

13. yes, we"might" see that. we might see the second coming or alien invasion, too.
there's not been one serious case outside mexico so far.

but there "might" be.

when the virus mutates, maybe in october. or sometime. maybe next year. sometime or other, someone will DIE!

15. The infectious disease docs
on promed are concerned about that possibility . Time will tell. It is impossible to predict.

18. yes, impossible to predict. though so far, there's no evidence anything like that is happening.
but hope springs eternal. we may have a death-dealing pandemic yet!

19. Well forgive me if I take the opinion
of some eminent infectious disease physicians over yours. It is impossible to predict but we do have historical precedents to gauge the situation we have now for some clues. It could go either way and I don't see what the purpose is to shut down all conversation on the situation.

14. the testing supplies w/b in Mexico city by tomorrow. should be a matter of days to confirm current

cases/deaths. contrary to a number of posts on this subject, there's hard information in the post the hypsters are so studiously avoiding.

"Cordova said that starting Tuesday laboratory tests will start in Mexico to confirm the presence in patients of the A/H1N1 virus, since up to now samples have been send outside the country because of the lack of equipment for making the diagnosis here.

He said that by Wednesday, when additional equipment is due to arrive, Mexico will be able to carry out as many as 600,000 tests per day."

16. If they arrive tomorrow
they will then have to be distributed, the staff instructed in how to do the tests and then thousands of people will have to be tested. I don't expect a good picture in a few day.

17. some apparently arrived today. & they *do* have qualified lab folks in mexico,
Edited on Wed Apr-29-09 02:12 AM by Hannah Bell
not so much more training required.

on edit: kind of funny, you were ready to believe confirmed deaths lept from 20 to 159 in one day, with 150 more "possibles," because you got a twitter (tweet?) saying so, but you're not ready to believe medical supplies could get to mexico on schedule, or that tests could be run in less than a couple of weeks.

we all have our biases. ours go in opposite directions, i guess.
