Shackled from the ceiling for 11 days and forced to stay awake...

Everyone seems to be focusing on the sleep deprivation as the worse part of the torture---don't get me wrong---it's bad....but my God, hanging from a ceiling in handcuffs for 11 days????

I've been handcuffed before by cops and they ain't to comfortable. But to hang by them would be downright painful.

In this method, the detainee is standing and is handcuffed, and the handcuffs are attached to a length of chain to the ceiling.... The detainee's feet are shackled to a bolt in the floor.... 3. You know what bothers me the most?

The dark places to which the mind must go to come up with this kind of stuff...and the fact that some people obviously love going there again and again. Trying to think up worse and worse things one could do to a person.

I thought of what they said about putting an insect in a box with a guy who supposdly feared nothing more than insects...and I think, how is that different from 1984, in which Winston Smith was more afraid of rats than of anything else, and a rat was used to make him "love" Big Brother?

Simple answer: it's not.

And this is MY country we're talking about, doing this in my name.

But I'm not supposed to think about it. I'm supposed to look forward, not back.

Someone please tell me how.
