Sadly, the NH governor, John Lynch, a Democrat, says he will veto the bill if it reached his desk.

4. It was the New Hampshire "House" (our General Court), not the Senate.

NH House votes to kill death penalty

By TOM FAHEY
State House Bureau Chief
4 hours, 59 minutes ago

CONCORD – The New Hampshire House has voted to repeal the state’s death penalty laws by a vote of 193-174.

House Bill 556 will now move to the Senate. The House earlier today passed HB 520, calling for an in-depth study of the state’s death penalty laws.

Both bills now move to the Senate.

Gov. John Lynch opposes the repeal and promised to veto it.

That this passed comes as a very pleasant surprise to many of us; while
passage of the "study commission" on the D.P. was a sure thing, the
actual repeal wasn't expected to pass the House. We'll now see what
happens in the Senate.

Meanwhile, if Lynch vetoes this, he wil be *THE SECOND DEMOCRAT*
in a row to veto the D.P. repeal (with Jeanne Shaheen being the previous
"Democrat". If Lynch had an honest bone in his body he'd just switch to
the Republican party.
