It is my observation that # of jobs posted in FL @ Careerbuilder & Monster has declined dramatically

during March.

Is this just me or are other people feeling that the number of open postings are declining for them also?

I would also note on CB that the number of non-jobs masquerading as jobs has gone up:

a) military recruiting ads that are the same ad just posted for multiple cities around FL as though each were a separate job in that town when they are all nation wide jobs. It seems that either the military ads are abusing keywords or that CB overrides my search words to force me to look at these military ads.

b) Trade school ads pretending to be job ads. Same situation - multiple listings around the state for what is essentially the same listing over and over: a trade school, not a job.

c) Certificate programs. Same as trade schools - not a job but multiple listings cluttering up search results for each city around FL.

d) Out of state jobs gaming the system pretending to be an in state job - Yuma CA is NOT a city in Florida but CB doesn't use a drop down system to force the employer to input a real city.

e) Key word gamers who put a lot of key words into their ad that have nothing to do with the job description - usually "work at home" scams that aren't jobs at all but some version of MLM.

Careerbuilder isn't the only one with problems - craigslist has a lot of scam posters there too - they seem to be more responsive to getting rid of them than CB but more scam artists tend to go there to post.

I really get annoyed with the spamming that I am being subjected to by people who want to intrude on my job searches with their bullshit non - jobs!

1. I'm not surprised
A drop in available work means the "retrain and get rich" scammers all come out of the woodwork.

I've noticed that the two sections of employment ads we had in the Sunday paper in this town 8 years ago is down to four pages.

This is why no matter what the stock market does, this economy is in the crapper and will stay there until it's fixed from the bottom up.

3. The postings in my area are way down too. I check several
sites during the week and the only ones that offer any depth of jobs seem to be in the health care fields and I certainly don't qualify..

It is pretty discouraging.

Most listings ask for resume and cover letter with salary requirements.
If this is the way they want you to reply, at least the poster should give a better job description than the brief one posted. I don't feel comfortable sending salary requirements when I don't know much about a job and it is a little difficult to present your qualifications by letter to fill a job that is vaguely described.
