Is your paycheck less because of the stimulus?

I need a little help here.

Because I don't get a paycheck, I don't know if this is true or not.

I was just talking to a guy who told me he just took a hit in his pay because of the stimulus. There was less money in his paycheck and his employer told him it was because of "Obama's stimulus tax."

I thought it was the opposite. I thought people were supposed to get more in their paychecks eventually.

Is this guy right or is his employer just being a dick?

IRS has released new tax withholding tables which have increased take home pay.

Your guy's pay stub should show his income tax withholding on it. Compare it with the previous pay stub.

5. I do weekly payroll for 10 employees in Massachusetts

New federal tax withholding tables for 2009 were released 3 weeks ago. Employers were requested to begin using the tables ASAP or by April 1st. The amounts to withhold were decreased which increased the net pay. Single filers had an increase of about $9-10 per paycheck, while married filers had an increase of about $13-15 per paycheck.

7. Maybe not yet but he will have a lot less when we start

paying the tax on our benefits he is considering. I figure that will raise my taxes a couple thousand, I thought that idea died when John McCain was defeated. He can also expect to pay $6.20 more for a carton of cigarettes starting on April 1. If he smokes there goes that big tax-cut. He can also expect to pay more for his electricity when this Cap and Trade policy goes into effect.

11. Our paychecks vary from pay to pay depending

how much overtime we work, holidays, shift differentials and incentive pay we receive. Unless someone is on a fixed income salary type job they will probably never notice it. I think it would have been a much better stimulus for the economy if it was paid out in one lump sum. Most of the 95% of taxpayers that got a tax-cut will never remember it when the 2010 election gets here.

It's just another way the corporatocracy will try to undermine President Obama -- turn the rank and file against him with outright and petty lies.

12. I vote 'employer being a dick'.

As I understand it, the stimulus appears in paychecks as a slight INCREASE in pay, because of a reduction in taxes -- that's what the 'reduce taxes for 95% of Americans' is all about.

So if he saw a reduction in pay, I'd guess his employer is playing him.
