'Calm down with the threats, there's a new Congress in town,"

In contrast to Bush, Pelosi's speech was more conciliatory.

"On this very important matter, I would extend a hand of friendship to the president just to say to him 'Calm down with the threats, there's a new Congress in town," Pelosi said. "We respect your constitutional role, we want you to respect ours."

Pelosi continued, "This war must end. The American people have lost faith in the president's conduct of the war. Let's see how we can work together."

"So I just wish the president would take a deep breath, recognize again that we each have our constitutional role, and we should respect that in terms of each other," Pelosi added.

and just who are these "Iraqi bloggers" Chimpy is trying to tout? Jenna and Barbara?

During his speech, Bush also quoted from an editorial written by bloggers from Iraq the Model published in the Wall Street Journal a few weeks ago to argue that his "surge" or escalation plan has already been successful.

"I want to share with you how two Iraqi bloggers -- they have bloggers in Baghdad just like we got here -- (laughter) -- describe -- 'Displaced families are returning home. Marketplaces are seeing more activity. Stores that were long shuttered are now reopening. We feel safer about moving in the city now. Our people want to see this effort succeed. We hope the governments in Baghdad and America do not lose their resolve.'"

4. That was pretty damn funny...
The whole "the surge is working thing" is almost as funny. Maybe Bush missed the McCaine/Ware exchange yesterday... It's nice to see Dems responding to the bullshit..

6. "The American people have lost faith in the president's conduct of the war."
Now that's the truth.

:patriot:

(A lot of us never had faith in it to begin with.)

7. Pelosi Is MOCKING Bush
I bet this pisses him off more than if she had played the Queen Bitch role the right wing pundits like to paint of Pelosi.

Well played, Ms. Pelosi.

8. Pelosi Is "The Dog Whisperer"
Just like Caesar with dogs, she has to show dominance. She has to establish that she's in control, and that the Bush admin's constant barking won't be tolerated and she will engage him when he calms down.

Basically, she just said "psst" to Bush.

18. Basically, every other moms in the world recognizes the "voice" when they hear it.
Nancy, as Barbara Boxer with Imhofe the other day, used the voice. Every two-year-old recognizes the voice--momvoice. It is the voice of business in momworld--not a scold, not a raging harridan--but a firm reminder that you are teetering on the edge of your doom. I love momvoice. It's an art and one I'm certain Barbara Bush never acquired. If she had been a master at the art of momvoice, she would have raised a better son.

We have many good momvoices in congress now.

As I was watching it I thought that perhaps only a grandmother could correct a troubled child so gently, yet firmly and with patience.

aren't updating their Blogs, eh?

What a schmuck.. they SO don't GET IT, and I believe that will be THEIR DOWNFALL in the end..

Seriously, they DON'T UNDERSTAND THE INTERNETS, hard drives, Servers, etc.. Bush can't check email or write one.. they don't know what WE know, "Don't say ANYTHING in an Email, that you don't want to see on the front page of the NY TIMES TOMORROW.." :)

Old quote, really.

Dipshits. OLD MONEY, OIL MONEY, from the TeaPot Dome days, Nazi Dealers, lost in the past and fossil fuels, never embraced or assisted with the Internet, the most wonderful invention since the telephone..

19. It's like she's speaking to a child,
like Boxer did with Inhofe. 'Calm down, we'll get your binky in a second.'

I usually can't sit through an entire Bush speech, but looking at the transcript for yesterday, it seems like I've heard this somewhere before:

Brush clearing Bush-"And it's hard work, but it is necessary work."

Condescending Bush-"See, September the 11th was not only a day we were attacked, it is a day that our country must never forget, and the lessons of that day must never be forgot, that what happens overseas matters here at home."

"See, ultimately, the Iraqis are going to have to defend themselves."

"See, there are some who can't stand the thought of a free society emerging in their midst."

Propaganda Bush-"I want to read something that Army Sergeant Major Chris Nadeau says -- the guy is on his second tour in Iraq. He says, "I'm not a Democrat or a Republican. I'm a soldier. The facts are the facts. Things are getting better, we're picking up momentum."

Repeat ad-nauseum Bush-"And that evil that uses children in a terrorist attack in Iraq is the same evil that inspired and rejoiced in the attacks of September the 11th, 2001. And that evil must be defeated overseas, so we don't have to face them here again."

I see a lot of breaks for applause in the transcipt, who the hell is still appaulding this moran?
