26. I think Fleischer was caught off-guard

by the nice way - very skillful - Tweety handled him. He was very calm, and even when he disagreed, and Fleischer got even more strident with his obvious talking points, Tweety backed down and gave him all the rope he needed to hang himself.

Fleischer was foundering at the end, and he knew it, knew he had screwed up with the personal attacks on Mathews - which didn't provoke Matthews, to his credit - and I think he blurted out that Saddam lie about attacking "again" in desperation as time ran out.

Those lying thugs will do everything they can to spread their filthy, in the hope that someone, anyone, will believe them.

over-confident, expecting to make mincemeat out of Matthews. He was smug and adversarial and demeaning before he had a reason to. I think he was interested in bullying and - yep - maybe forgot he was supposed to say things that weren't really stupid and offensive.

He failed on all fronts. But still, I'm not entirely convinced that he really had NO idea what he was saying - precisely because he didn't let it go. He should have taken a different tack because the only foot he shot was his own...
