Erin the bubblehead Burnett: Unemployment comp is unfair to the rich
Hey Joe (scar), lost of people are talking, I'm just sayin, does giving unemployment to people keep them from looking for a job. China doesn't do it. People want to know why we do. I'm just say'n, lots of economist are discussing it. What a repuke bitch. Let's take the unemployment away from the people who lost jobs, even though they pay for it when they work, they don't deserve it. Let them eat shit and go look for a job. How fucking pathetic.

21. Maybe it varies from state to state, but in Arkansas the employer is
solely responsible for state and federal unemployment taxes. Nothing is deducted from an employee's wages for unemployment taxes.

23. and employers DO take that into consideration when they set prices & pay scale
So, in the end, the consumers and workers actually pay :eyes:

Like property owners and renters: owners actually pay the property taxes, but they don't do it out of the kindness of their heart. THEY PASS THAT EXPENSE ALONG

28. Yes, I do
And I do the payroll. At least in DC, DC sets the unemployment rate based on the employers experience, and the employers pays it. It is not deducted out of the employees pay. It may be different in your state, but in Maryland and in DC (the 2 places I have worked) it is the employer who pays.

16. The employer pays Federal unemployment but state is paid by both employee and employer.
Half a percent is paid by the employee and the employer pays about 1.5%

17. Thank you
people believe whatever they hear, pay the tax and have no idea what they are payin for. Try to get unemployment if you haven't had a job. Yu have no quaters to base it from. Meaning, you have paid nothing, so you get nothing.

20. That depends on what state you live in. Arkansas' unemployment is paid solely by the
employers.

The payment of state unemployment insurance was introduced in 1935 to help provide economic security for the unemployed worker who had become unemployed through no fault of his own. Each state has its own laws, and operates its own program.

An Arkansas state unemployment account (SUTA) is required of any entity meeting the definition of an employer. As described by Arkansas Department of Workforce Services Law, the definition of an employer includes, but is not limited to, a sole proprietorship, partnership, corporation, associations, trust, estate, and receiver or trustee in bankruptcy. The entity must have in employment one (1) or more individuals for some portion of ten (10) or more days in a calendar year, whether or not the days are consecutive.

Arkansas unemployment insurance tax rates currently range from 0.8% to a maximum rate of 6.7%. The upper range indicates that more payments in unemployment insurance have been made from an employer's account than tax has been paid in for unemployment insurance. Since the passage of Act 1055 on April 1, 1999, employers with a maximum tax rate of 6.7 % may be assigned a rate of 8.7% in 2003 and 10.7% in 2004, depending on actual experience and the status of their accounts.

4. Oh, ha, ha, ha
Gee, I hope their next segment is about "class warfare" and how all of us ignorant peons are insufficiently sad about the new Forbes list of the richest people and how some of them aren't doing so good.

File this one away and be prepared to cite to it the next time some overrich jerk talks about "class warfare" because you back a policy that calls for a fairer distribution of wealth in this country.

5. I never thought I would say anything like this but..
I really hope these people suffer a life shattering experience in the future and we all get to watch and comment.

My business failed and my house is in jeopardy. I am not collecting anything and there are no jobs. None.

These freaks on Mourning Joe may never have a money problem but I look forward to blaming them for anything that happens to negatively impact their lives.

13. Yeah, because unemployment is SO much money. It's half of what you made
while working. My sister is unemployed and has not been able to find anything in her field. She is thinking of her own business, which the unemployment hampers. She isn't sure how to proceed. They are scraping by right now. They would be ruined if it weren't for the unemployment. The idea that somehow my sister is just sitting around living off her unemployment is bs. Sure, there are folks that live on the unemployment. It tends to be people that get laid off every year, like say construction or something. They know how long they are off work and they know when they are starting back. Why should they look for other work when they will have a job in a couple of months? It's ludicrous to insinuate that folks are just lazy or something and don't want to work. Spoken like people who don't know what the hell they're talking about.

15. I watched it too
"Lots of people, I mean real economist types, are talking. The question is out there and deserves an answer"
Who is asking these questions and what is their evidence for speculation?
Perfect example of how senseless talking points enter the public debate.
I would assume that there is enough unemployment fraud out there to warrant investigation. Just as there is real fraud on Wall Street that warrants the same scrutiny.
If she were are real economic reporter we would be learning more of these and not the blanket class warfare statements she is prompted to provide.

None of the other bobbleheads took her up on her "discussion topic". Before that there was a shot of her with a bag of Cheetos and supposedly a big Cheeto in her chipmunk cheek. What, at 6 A.M.? Is she trying to act like one of the Great Unwashed?!1

to the riffraff, they're less likely to become giant, stinking corpses on the sidewalk that she'll have to walk around.
