Senate Democrats Unveil Multiple Veterans' Bills Proposed at Capitol
http://www.wkowtv.com/News/index.php?ID=10374

In the wake of predicted federal cuts to veterans services, state lawmakers are trying to push a slew of bills through to help veterans.

Senate Democrats unveiled their plans Tuesday at the Veterans Museum in Madison. Wauwatosa Senator Jim Sullivan heads the Senate Committee on Veterans and Military Affairs. One idea of his is to create a voluntary, statewide registry of veterans. Sullivan thinks that would have helped doctors spot patterns of Gulf War Syndrome following the first Gulf War in the early 1990's.

Sullivan hopes a registry will track the effects of depleted uranium on current Iraq war vets. The shells fired from tanks are made with uranium. That has Sullivan concerned. "This is exactly the kind of thing really we're not sure of the long term effect of that exposure is going to be, but really we want to make sure we have this database," he said.

1. Start With Universal Single Payer Health Care, Then
Veterans and their dependents need this desperately, along with the rest of America.
