This is a "good week in politics" post that covers a bit more than a week.
1. Obama ducks out of the Oval Office for a quick smoke and tries to duck back in through a window. Y'all may recall that after a press conference in China, GW tried to exit through a locked door. This incident was so funny to some that it made news in the DUmp. I haven't seen anything there about Obama trying to use the window as a door, though.
2. The Senate approves Eric Holder as attorney general. Holder was deeply involved in Cigar Willy's disgraceful Marc Rich pardon. If Holder were a Republican, his name would not have made it out of the Senate Judiciary Committee.
3. Mrs. Cigar Willy is approved as secretary of state of this country. This ghoulish woman is a walking/talking financial conflict of interest as the ditch carp she married will accept money from anybody on two legs, including the government of Saudi Arabia, who liberals tell us financed 911. If Mrs. Willy were a Republican, her name would never have made it out of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee.
4. Speaking of the DUmp, (nae withheld) entered a post about Freepers or some such bullshit and misspelled "their." Her mistake did not go unnoticed by other DUmpster divers. The poor little girl can't catch a break. When she enters this post into the DUmp, (name witheld) will edit it. Mark my words.
(The Freeper-type knows I'm a guy, but he continues whining about me being a "little girl)
5. Obama tells Republicans that things would be better if they stopped listening to Rush Limbaugh. A couple of things here. First, is it wise to throw down a gauntlet in front of a man as powerful as Limbaugh? The man attracts 20 million listeners and owns perhaps the bulliest pulpit in the country. Limbaugh is going to get the last word, believe me. Second, shouldn't the leader of the Free World welcome ALL political voices, both left and right? Isn't the dialectic clash of ideas good for democracy? Didn't a partisan clash of ideas form this republic? If Obama does not welcome all ideas, maybe his political ego would be better satisfied as leader of Iran. Obama is beginning to remind me of the other O when she goes of on her emotional rants. "Hyper partisan bullshit fuck fake LOSER whore fuck!"
6. Obama indicated last week that he will have our troops out of Iraq in 16-23 months. This timeframe is in line with Bush SOFA targets worked out last year. Obama issues an order to "study" the possiblity of closing Guantanamo Bay in one year. On foreign and defense policy, Obama is Bush Lite. If there were an honest democrat posting in Fido, which there is not, they would be howling about broken campaign promises because during the campaign, Obama pledged to end the war in Iraq on "day one" of his presidency and to close Guantanamo Bay immediately.
7. The Pelosi/Reid/Obama bail out plan has a line item for birth control. There is nothing I can add to that.
8. Obama pledged that no lobbyists would be welcome in his administration. Well, almost no lobbyists. Obama immediately made an exception to policy by nominating William Lynn as assistant secretary of defense. Lynn's most recent employment was as lobbyist for the Raytheon company.
I used to have an uncle who wasa a nasty drunk, like this.
