CNBFox? "Obama vs Wall St. Bonuses: Class Warfare?"
Edited on Fri Jan-30-09 12:13 PM by HughBeaumont
UNbelievable. They're STILL on and never will veer from this "punishing success" meme.

Get this through your thick skulls, CNBC; well, MSM in general. You CANNOT keep the middle/working/poor classes down forever and expect a recovery of any kind. If you don't think WE'RE NOT the drivers of corporate success, fire ALL of us. See who buys their products. See who forgets where they were fired from.

Want a news flash? No matter HOW bad the economy is doing, you'll ALWAYS have rich people. The Elisons, Buffets, Raymonds, Marcuses and Nardellis of the world will still have Everest-size fortunes whether we're working or not. There is no amount of taxation other than outright theft of their assets that you can do to these people to even make a miniscule DENT in their wealth.

So can we PLEASE stop with this ridiculous "class warfare" crap? They've already won. For LIFE. Jesus Christ.

1. They don't yet understand that something changed in November last year
that those old memes don't work anymore. They will continue, you can bet on that.

2. They are right about their being class warfare

3. What fucking success? They would all be out of business without the government dole!
How can anyone receive a bonus in any of these companies when they all had to run to Uncle Sugar for the Big Handout? That's not success: it's abject failure. The problem is not that the government is "punishing success," but that these companies are REWARDING FAILURE. With our fucking money.

CNBC is a fucking cesspool of unreconstructed Friedmanites: their ideology in catastrophe and shambles, they continue to mouth the same old stupid formulas that got us into this mess.

4. I think this "wall street bonus" issue is a sure-fire winner for Obama.
He should stick with it.

The vast majority of people in this country GET IT on this. These bonuses were not handed out in a vacuum. We just handed these people hundreds of billions of dollars of taxpayer money, after they bankrupted their own companies. This isn't "class warfare." We win this argument on two points:

1. Taxpayer money pays for those bonuses.
2. The people getting the bonuses FAILED to do their job.

When regular people screw up at work, we get FIRED. We don't get taxpayer-funded million-dollar bailouts.

5. Punishing success?!?!?!
Edited on Fri Jan-30-09 11:51 AM by prolesunited
These idiots ran their companies so far into the red that they needed a government handout?!? They shouldn't have been handed bonuses, they should have been fired for it.

The investment class has crashed the economy and brought millions of people down with it. Why the fuck should they be rewarded. I'm barely scraping by now and quickly plummeting toward the bottom and MY tax money should be going toward million-dollar bonuses?!?

Class warfare. WTF. It's like berating a rape victim for speaking up after being violated.

8. I friggin' hate CNBC
Have to listen to it all day. They are doing nothing but pandering to the chimps that come on their show and basically just promote whatever it is that would benefit their sector of business. I work in the Financial Services Industry, but I don't drink the Kool-Aid. They simply just do not take into account that most people (Main Street, my parents for one...) don't really know or care about these A-Holes on Wall street. These are people that have tons of money and think that Government should make policy based on what would aid them in making money for doing nothing than already having money. A good Financial Advisor would make money based on the current policy and rules that Government (the people of this country) see as what is needed to make their lives better. The world existed before the stock market. People started businesses and still do (private, non exchange traded companies) and would continue to do so, even if you couldn't gamble your money on whether or not Steve Jobs (Apple) is going to die from a physical ailment or not. I absolutely hate it. I've considered getting a different job, simply because I am tired of listening to that horrific channel all day!

Amazing. And I'm supposed to take that channel seriously? I mean, you're asking a freaking right-wing radio talk show host how he would handle the Stimulus!!! Is everyone here bananas?

13. At least they Roasted his fat ass!
Surprisingly, Mark and Erin actually called him on his crap. Sort of refreshing. But the fact they put him on at all was not good media. Report the News. There's tons of it every hour, I get new ticker on my Thompson One system we use and there is all sorts of stuff an investor would love to know. They just got done posing the question, "Is Obama lying to us". Then they do polls that obviously would favor their agenda. Who the hell is watching CNBC at this time of day. My Mom isn't. My Grandma isn't. Even Joe the Plumber probably isn't. Who is? The same Kool-Aid drinking Chimps that are on their tiny little misguided boat. They have often bashed the Wall Street Bonuses, now that Obama has done it, they start re-hashing the question about whether they should get bonuses, and start flipping there stance. They talk to a Wall Street big whig and ask him what he thinks. What do you think he's going to say? He got that bonus!

11. It's "class warfare" to be concerned that my taxes are going to billions of dollars in bonuses
Edited on Fri Jan-30-09 12:22 PM by Occam Bandage
to executives of companies that are only solvent because of the generosity of my taxes? All right, then put a rifle in my hands and a helmet on my head, because I guess I'm a class warrior.

Edited on Fri Jan-30-09 02:29 PM by ck4829
Nobody called it "class warfare" when they were taking our money in the form of the bail out.

It's only "class warfare" when the rich aren't making billions at the expense of us.

SHUT UP!

it's "good for business."
